So engaging cruise to pursue a target is considered fleeing? Sounds more like chasing.
So if you are chasing a pirate and he manages to flee from you using thrusters you still win as he has fled and must leave the zone. This was already covered in the other thread. Once he is outside 6k range he is considered fleeing so just state in open system chat "Target has fled, engaging cruise to verify target has left the system". That means the battle is over and the loser is being escorted out of the system.
If a pirate thrusts away from a battle and then pirates in the same zone then it is a violation.
If he remains in the zone for more then 10 min, report him. I really can not see it taking more then 10 min for a fighter/bomber to exit a zone.
Remember that if you leave they're fine. But yeah, that's pretty much right.
' Wrote:Exactly. If a fighter decides to disengage from your capital via thruster, he is allowed to. But it counts as fleeing.
If you engage cruise however to chase after him, you count as fleeing as well.

Simple as that. It gives fighters and bombers the mobility to escape a capital ship without dying. They still have to leave though, as they fled.
Wait, so if the fighter thrusts away and the cap goes into cruise, do they both have to leave system? Or is the second to flee allowed to stay in system (since he won... sort of) but just not re-engage?
Fighters and bombers thrust faster because they are lighter, and thus weaker than cap ships. That ofcourse doesn't give them liberty to just thrust away from the fight all the way out of radar range and consider themselves still in fight.
That DOES mean though that they CAN thrust away to 6k, recharge their shields while for example, their wingmate keeps the damn cap ship busy. Thats called teamwork and it works great.
So.. To answer question above, if fighter starts thrusting away and stays within some sane range (8k, 6k) I don't consider him fleeing. If capship enters cruise then, the capship lost the fight. end of discussion.
I just see it as one of pros to fly a fighter. And honestly I don't see a big deal there. Fighter can't really scratch a cap ship without some serious anti cap equipment anyway. If I decide to fly a capship at one point and get in situation where fighter is being so annoying I'll just continue with my business ready to hit him hard when he returns near me.
