And that's perfectly fine for someone living in the desert. I'm living in snowy Urals mountains and dream about ocean, islands and beaches pretty often too.
Too much speculation on this point.

Another interesting thing is how The First Order, being much weaker than Empire in every aspect from size to men to resourses managed to build Starkiller Base. I think that maybe 90% of it was build by Empire[read another Palpatine's doomsday weapon] and rest 10% were slowly finished by The First Order over 30 years

Do not confuse "the first order" of being something new than the Empire - they are part of the remnants, multiple factions spread across the Galaxy and just happens to be the one where this Snoke decided to lead and turn in to a leading force in order to restore the Empire in its new glory.
The battle of Endor is not revealing what really happens to the entire Empire Fleet - the thing is that the Galaxy, the systems under Imperial control, are governed by "Moffs" (like Tarkin) who are like supreme leaders of a certain Imperial Fleet and Planet(or planets). So, just because the movie represents the "first order" as main villains doesn't mean they are alone nor weak. They were part of the Empire, their fleet might possibly be lead by "Snoke" who was a Moff Snoke (or using other name, where Snoke is nickname). Maybe they were participating in a battle similar to the imperial fleet in Jakku and there he got so damaged(read wookipedia about the story of captain Cree - her star destroyer Inflictor is the one we've seen from trailer and in the movie).
Overall - the first order are not weak nor resource-less...they build starkiller base and proved to have a huge army placed on it on top of a fleet (which we might definitely see in 8th movie, possibly Snoke is there on some kind of super star destroyer etc). In New Hope we barely witnessed the Imperial Fleet and we saw part of it at 6th movie and even then it was meeh (cuz they were ordered not to fire). So speculating that they are weak only cuz we saw 1 "new" star destroyer is not right. We all know star wars is 30% movie and 70% background information about the movie coming from other sources (primary wookipedia).

You know that after battle of Endor all Moffs formed alliances with one another in order to prepare an attempt to counter the Rebels. Some Moffs decided to go alone (with their fleets) and establish new groups, similar to the First Order. Thrawn had a huge armada, just like Pantheon but all that we know from wookipedia and comics/books etc. One movie - the 7th - was not enough to represent the huge potencial and resources of the First Order, so the best way to see if they are strong is to use what we've seen in the movie:
1) They have very good spies, almost instantly leaking information about the rebel movements (first part of the movie, later in Maz Kanata castle and in the end HOW did they knew the location of the Resistance? Definitely someone told them that. There was no Princess Leia interrogated by Tarkin to say they were at Alderaan and later Yavin...)
2) They have superior technology than the Empire, better ships and far more skillful pilots and troopers (finally)
3) They have resources enough to build starkiller base (the symbol of the order all around it proved that its their property...no need to discuss it - its their base)
4) They have the only "alive" possible candidate to be called close to a SIth Lord (Snoke) and apprentice as Vader (Kylo)
5) They have something far more worst to offer and the loss of starkiller base was not so much of a loss to them - THAT we saw in the eyes of Snoke when General Hux went to report the failure and the imminent destruction of the base - he simply said "Leave the base at once and come to me with Kylo Ren. It's time to complete his training." - it was like "Fak the base man lol, bring me Kylo to make him a badazz".

So don't conclude they were weak. If you ask me they were far more brutal and their actions caused far more destruction in 1 movie compared to the Empire in 3. They knew where to strike the New Republic and they did it swiftly. They are fanatics lead by someone which possibly is super angry and evil but we shall find that in 8th movie cuz in this one we saw nothing more than that "this" dude thinks of himself of being someone "superior" - the oversized hologram..."supreme leader" title and etc...definitely is someone they trust to lead them to glory. Hope his story is nice.

First Order relates to Empire just like Kylo Ren relates to Vader.

Actually, I haven't read Aftermath yet, only comics about Dameron's parents.

You see, even for Empire, building the Death Star was hard and took much of it's significant war budget. Now we're looking at something much smaller building something much bigger. No technological advantage(especially counting that we're seeing almost same TIEs and almost same X-Wings like in OT)

Quote:far more skillful pilots and troopers
Yet we're seeing same stormtrooper effect, where few chosen heroes can infiltrate planet full with skillful pilots and troopers.

I really enjoyed the film, but the background setting leaves a hell of a lot to be desired. Presumably they will flesh out those thirty years with new canon EU stuff, but just from Force Awakens it can be rather confusing (especially for a pretty informed fan such as us Wookieepedia-ers).

I've only come across vague mentions from Leia's bio that the New Republic has been disarming, believing the Empire to be too weak to try anything and/or willing to stick to the peace treaty they signed. We know from the Battlefront DLC (and common sense) that the war didn't stop after Endor, with that Star Destroyer being crashed into Jakku to prevent capture - damn planet-divers Wink - a whole year afterwards. It could well have dragged on for a decade or so, which could explain why the Republic (presumably larger than the First Order) wants to move on and rebuild the economy without having to fund a vast Mon Calamari fleet etc. Even then, the First Order were apprehensive about openly moving against the Republic, hence their decision to take out the main core with one big pre-emptive strike (while there will still be some Republic remnants around the galaxy, I am sure).

Considering things with a purely "ooRP" sense (i.e. what Disney/Abrams decide to try and make things more popular), the Resistance being so small ("we lost half the fleet!" = a dozen X-Wings) compared to the First Order (who are only seen to have Starkiller base, one capital ship, but a large army) brings the setting closer to the underdog Original Trilogy Rebels, rather than the Republic Fleet and Army of the prequels.
Han Solo dies for inRP reasons as Fallen said, but ooRPly because Harrison Ford isn't really a fan of the series or character and is just in it for the money (hence the huge paycheck and no need to film any more).
I'm a bit disappointed as some have said that it is so closely mirroring the Original Trilogy's plot, with the female lead presumably revealed as another Skywalker and a bad one (even if he is also an Organa-Solo) brought back to the light in the next film or two.

Also for the "only four planets" thing, even Phantom Menace (yeah yeah, not exactly great to hold it up as a good example) which is supposed to be flashier only had Naboo, Coruscant and Tatooine. Attack of the Clones only added Kamino and Geonosis.

Really? I heard there's going to be a Han Solo spin off movie though.

I'm honestly glad I got a ticket for free. Seriously was dissapointed and why they didn't go with the Expanded universe to BEGIN WITH!?

Come on. THis story is just a joke, and in my $0.02 has ruined the franchise for the new generation. It doesn't tell a story at all, just shoots all over the place to fill in the requirements for multiple sections of fans and to sell toys for christmas. All the other episodes were released in may. This one December.

JJ Trek only messed up with Kahn.

JJ Star Wars ruined the franchise

I know exactly how you feel. I've just watched it and I'm disappointed just because of this. They could have done a lot better with the story line.

Also why is everyone using spoilers when the title of this thread says spoilers. Anyone who didn't want it spoiled wouldn't look :/

That's what you would think, but people are...well I won't say dumb, but ignorant, panicky, and confused all come to mind.
