I agree with OsoRojo. Too many people are complaing about what we have and they are probably the ones who don't have enough fun. The reason they make these games is to have fun but others take it as a way of life and I say that those people need to GROW UP!

Take a look at this.

A good and polite example of an introduction.

Due to the fact that A51 operate quite frequently in Rheinland, and are flying our ships, that is much easier said then done. We will have to interact in game, just as Unselie said, there isn't any way to stop it. If they wish to play, they'll stick by the server rules. Does that "No OoRP" rule ring a bell to any of you? ...

Having fun? Well good for you, but this isn't a server where you can do whatever the hell you like. It has server rules, it has roleplay rules, it has the basic common sense ground rules. Yes true, some people do consider this a second life, take it to seriously. But you know what? If it wasn't for those people, Discovery wouldn't be where it is today. The people trying to ruin all that work are effort are the ones that truly need a slap in the face.

What was that about growing up?

I'm going to have to agree, its in no way "fun" to be cap splashed by a group of Battle cruisers out of the blue.

You ask who the arbiter's of RP are in this community, I shall tell you. I shall tell you who defines what the current relationships are, who should be flying what. The Community. The Admins tell you what the server rules say, the rest of us try to explain how things function within the framework already established here, to come in and trample that framework is disrespectful to those people who have helped set it up, helped it to flourish and become one of the most engaging online games to play.

I set up my own faction, it was a departure from the normal RP of the NPC faction it was supposed to be a part of, it is still all those things. But I started by checking out the forums to see what weas going on, I built up my RP, not by changing past events, but by influencing future ones. I built this in to my in game RP, I worked hard and ended up organising an event to jumpstart my faction. (Big developments on that front this weekend for anyone interested... I has plans). The point is that I built my faction within the framework that was already there, I paid my respects to those who came before by using what they had created to do my thing, I involved them, I talked to them and made sure my idea would fly, it did.

What these people are trying to tell you is that they feel that your RP simply does not fit, the God-Chancellor would never allow Rheinland BS's to be flown by anyone but the Rheinland Military, diplomatic exchanges would take place and the BHG, I'm sure, would ask you to replace those ships with BHG ones, to avoid any potential loss of revenue. Then there is the subject of every member of A51 flying gunboats or higher, whilst you can assure me this is not so, the testimonials of the people that have posted suggest otherwise. The BHG uses battleships and such in it's war against the Order, not in house systems, or anywhere else for that matter. It seems to me that the guild is a fragmented bunch, willing to stand up for each other but less than willing to share the profits. A battleship should require some 1000+ crew to maintain and operate such a vessel. Where have you requisitioned them from? How are you dealing with paying them? Or are these considerations you do not feel are appropriate?

Then there is the consideration of saturation, we have two official BHG factions (Shadow Stalkers Organisation, Darkwing) and a third in the works (Bounty Hunter Legion), with the significant number of indy BHG it makes the BHG probably the most over subscribed faction in Discovery, with the possible exception of the Corsairs, but then the Corsairs face the single most populous player faction on Discovery, the Reapers of Sirius. All these things should be taken into consideration when deciding where in discovery your faction should fit. There are a number of significantly under represented NPC factions within this modification, most noticeably the trading factions, perhaps turning your eye to one of these might allow you better opportunity to fit in with the community, at the end of the day it is the community that matters. Of course you can choose to stand aside but that is entirely up to you.

I don't think anyone is trying to limit ones fun here. You have to consider the situation that you are showing up to someone's party unannounced. Everyone is there to have a good time, but you start drinking all thier beer and breaking light fixtures.. well... You can't expect them tolerate it. Going off in the corner and saying 'Im just trying to be nuetral here!', doesnt really make it right when in fact this game puts you in a position to be conflicting with *something*. Excuse me for trying to sound even more biased, but a giant warfleet in no way reflects 'indifference'.

Also I was having a conversation with someone the other night about factions in general, we were dicussing the unwillingness of some that choose to disregaurd thier worth and play the game from thier perspective. The point was brought up by them that "If people wanna play this game with no interaction and rules, then why aren't they just playing single player"... it makes too much sense really.

I've found out the hard way, through misunderstanding the games approach to things v/s a community regulated approach, that while ideas seem right at first theres forces at work that have to be taken note of. They arent always in the most visible spots but you will find them eventually as you are reminded. I'd much rather see some kind of willingness to allow interested players that really are wanting to do things right, but are uneducated about it, be set straight while allowing to prove thier worth. Total disreguard and saying it doesnt matter is probably going to lead to hostile situations and you can't deny they are for the right reasons.

BTW: I have a character going through the same thing with Rhineland Military but I'm not gunna throw the salvage card here nor try to do anything but conform to thier military standards. While this group chooses to do something different, its up to them to sort it out just the same. . I'm 'noob'. I have no real authority on the matter, but will say I'm noticing a less than 'friendly' attitude about certain matters, but yes it will turn the right kind of player away from this game eventually if its not handled as a learning expierence. Totally different matter with these people it seems.

K.I.S.S....Keep It Simple Stupid, I love this axiom. If surrounded by overwhelming odds and cannot get away take the hit and avoid those you do not want to play with. This maybe be touchy, due to our diverse population, but within U.S. we have this little 1st Amendment that articulates our right to associate with those we wish and not with those we don't. I exercise that provision often, in addition to others.

Rights do not apply on private property. The right to freedom of expression does not apply here, because this forum is private property. Similarily, the other part of the 1st Amendment (which is from a country that is thousands of kilometres away from where the server is based) does not apply.

Hehehe, Praetyre, you do not disappoint. You contradict your allies statements. I have stated such (see Igiss, individual ownership), but it seems not to apply. In addition, right of association does apply within this ethereal sphere more so than any other. In essence, one does not need to remain within same system, nor acknowledge the presence of the other. So, 1st Amendment applies, but if its title worries some, call it a Natural right.
