Bah.... The easy way. :P
You people want to fly the GOOD fighter in Liberty? Grab a Dagger! Become an Outcast today!
If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God? - from 'Nightfall' by I. Asimov The Outcasts consider Siniestre Nube a sacred place for several reasons. Early explorers discovered a jumphole within the depths of the cloud that leads to a strange world of ringed stars and strange craft. All ships in the burrial ground are placed facing that hole to honor the Alien Spirits. - An Outcast rumor
But I can follow the thought, that a new player asks himself how to get a bit of money.
When he's/she's not used in doing a mission in a starflyer, and doesn't want to join a faction (it allways seems to be the end of "free" lancing (yes, I know, it's NOT) ) then they can only trade... 25/30 units cargo-hold makes the time become long (made it  ).
As I said, I can follow the thought....
But my oppinion is: keep it like it is
It's challenge and a chance for advanced players to help
Why are the DVL advertising in a thread to discuss starting money?
Anyhow, all you need to do is take a good look at the faction page. Yes a couple of the factions have disappeared, but most of the info there is correct.
The starting money, I think anyhow, was set at that amount because if someone spends a couple of hours getting a nice ship and some credits that person is more likely to STAY on the server for a while.

Hehe. As soon as I get the Defender and have enough cash I move to Kusari  who needs a dagger when you have a Baracuda or a Drake? :tease:

Eh... Who needs a Baracuda when you have easy access to the best Original fighter in the game. ;)
