This. Speaking as a PvPwhore who uses an Armored Transport for cheap blues, I can safely say that shenanigans like "transports pirating transports" happens a lot. Not a little. A lot.

Also, hi Nyx.

I am rather sure that your 1. sentence case is a minority case in less than... 10 %.
Individual bounties that single out a target for what it did are practically non-viable and therefore almost non-existant.

Most trade vessels have been caught in blanket bounties. Just check old bounty boards and count the claims.

As far as "pirating transports" are concerned, yes. There is a problem. I agree. It is/was? somewhere in the rules where there is a pvp death distinction between transports. It distinguished: "ship used for trading" from "pvp transports", like the Pelican mini GB etc.

But yes, you are right. Pretty.. difficult to do.

Edit: Sorry, I misread your answer first, Nyx.

imo from an oorp pov, bountying transports is fine, you just need to restrict who you actually accept for that bounty to people that are required to actually make a piracy demand. The only problem in this case is that the person will probably just end up demanding the actual amount of the bounty, which could be anywhere from 5 to 25 million credits. 25 million for a transport hauling regular commodities is a lot.

Also for the people bringing up bounty hunters killing empty transports, that's good. That means practically zero loss or rage has happened. Personally I feel zero guilt over killing an empty transport for a bounty, since nothing but time was ultimately lost, which would have happened even if they weren't flying a transport.

I agree with Snak3

For awhile there I had an issue with a group hunting my ships for 25 mil each, which is fine until they stopped even rp'ing and I started getting "You have a bounty Zoner, time to die" attack messages, this lead me to looking at the player list and avoiding interaction because if I knew there was a bounty hunter in the system ahead of me I'd rather log off in the system I'm in and switch to something on the other side of the sector.

I disagree because what if a faction is made only of transports. Are they all immune then?
And also a better counter is: if they had made the person bountying them angry and had already had their chance before with it, they should be taught a lesson inRP.
I can understand why you dont like it Jack, but changing this becasue of your explanation would mean also changing Xeno lore/ID , GMG ID towards corsairs for instance, etc etc.
Demanding cargo or cash would mean piracy. Shooting for a bounty is completing a contract.
You can have a hybrid but i dont believe in not allowing transports to be immune.

As for the bounty board thing, I disagree again with a point of view on FL/Merc ID.
People need to be hired inRP to do things. In a server that we are in with few people online the argument doesn't make sense much either.
This proposition of snak3's would impact people like myself that depend on bounty boards . It is up to the bounty hunter then if they choose to do a quick /1 /2 or if they should RP it. If a target wont RP and is running away then there is no chance to RP.

And I had situations when I RPed on my bounty hunter and gave the transport 3+ chances and he still chose to try to run and he died. He then said he would have rather not RPed with me in the first place.

So basically you cannot please a transport. All he cares about is cash and time.

I've always thought it'd be better with factions making boards that only their own NPC faction can claim off. This would encourage them to log and make activity. And then to make sure the BHG ID doesn't die out, BHG would also be able to hunt on those boards.

That would be exclusive to the BHG ID. I'd restrict the FL ID to only being able to take individual bounties and prohibit them from taking blanket ones. The problem with the BHG ID is that it's sub-par to the FL ID. Further, I feel that in many cases people just use the freedom of the FL ID to make their own customised 'shoot-whatever-I-want' ID.

And yeah transport bounties wise I think it's always better if those are done by pirate IDs, as they have to make a demand before they go in guns blazing.

just remove them and replace them with ingame bounties that will need to be posted by another player on someone who he actually meet and not just because he carry an id

Then you can also just kill off BHG faction, and that would not work.
Blanket bounties are the only kind of bounty that can work.
Do you know how much hassle and work it is to check boards, see who is hunted, see who you can shoot, check where you can shoot then shoot, get the blue (perhaps), then make the post, upload the screenies, calculate the profits and then get paid 5 million after 3 weeks?

If you make bounty hunting any harder, it will be gone completely.

create an flhook script?wasn't someone already working on it?(the newbie who wanted to learn)

People want to believe that God has a plan for them.
They don't wanna believe that anyone else does..

yeah isn't it too bad that the BHG are lawful and have their own tech

FL ID isn't necessarily "shoot-whatever-I-want" ID with the way that you're suggesting it to be, by signing up to the bounty-boards - you cannot register on the opposite side either. By signing up to some bounty boards - you're effectively creating that characters reputation and orientation to some factions.

Forgot to mention that in an ideal world the BHG should be quasi-lawful.
