Instead of Blaming @ JohnyWalker ( who helped more newbies than any of as killed NPCs ) , why dot you try to help some of them also ?
I don't expect to you to tech them how to mine , buy you can hang around Penn in rouge, pirate, xeno etc ships and at least try to recruit them in to your factions , or TEACH them how to proper RP ! Show them how to become your members , not to intercept just restarted freighters near Erie , make some silly demand and blow them up after they don't respond . What you expect from them , they are NEWBIES , most of them still don't even know to use chat , when you demand something from them , even if is only 100.000 they react with panic and they flee .
If you are to lazy to help them or you like to kill more than help , then stick to killing and don't Blame one that DO help !

That is a bit hard with the amount of lawfuls circling you in that area. I remember that I cannot talk to anyone there for long when I need to fear getting ganked in a few. And most of them don't want to anyways.

Not so hard , in more cases we had pleasant RP conversations with Un-Law ships there . i particularly remember one Pirate ID snub , first we had ask his intentions , and when it was obvious he don't intend to attack , we had more than 30 minutes of RP in helium cloud , before he leave as in peace .
Even i have try some RP recruiting in my Rogue Cruiser in Penn .
There is one glaring problem with the overarching mentality.
Helping newbies is one thing. It feels good for a new member to know that they can get help ingame and that Disco is a place where you can PM anyone ingame about a game related question and they will help you. Unlike other games where the only reply you get is a reference about your mother.
Anyone can help newbies, that is true. But not everyone can tutor them. I would never trust anyone but a specifically picked person to interact with newbies on a regular basis and introduce them to the game. Only because it is so goddamn easy to screw up and give the wrong impression. I used to do a lot of video-tutorials a few years back and one of the biggest problems I came across was accidentally misinforming a potential new player on how things work ingame, especially when it comes to interaction between players. Most new players do not think that if they are given suggestions or are given replies to their answers, they need to treat all information that comes from non-staff members with a pinch of salt. That the person giving you the information can be biased or mistaken or outright wrong. Or in even worse cases - deliberately misinforming you.
This is what I mean when I say that I do not want Jonnywalker to be constantly interacting with newbies. But that being said, I would not allow any one single person who has not been approved by the staff to interact with new players and tutor them. The Angels as they are right now offer at least some quality control as to who gets to be the go-to guy for new players, but even that is a stretch.
Sadly, I do not see a fix to this either. There is no way we can simply choose who is in the right and gets to help anyone. People just do it and all we can hope is that they give the right impression and know what they are doing.

PSA: If you have been having stutter/FPS lag on Disco where it does not run as smoothly as other games, please look at the fix here: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthrea...pid2306502

I rp a rough pirate. I don't have nice chats with the police or the navy. You guys need to differentiate. RP is the whole thing not just the talking. That is called a discussion or a conversation.
People need to stop using statement "Good roleplay" while having "long dialogue" in mind.
Sometimes good roleplay is exactly little roleplay. A professional pirate would not waste time discussing weather with transport. It would order it to halt, provide a reasonable demand so he/she gets paid.
Do you think that a pirate would spend 10 minutes chatting with his target? It's not good roleplay. It's "long dialogue".

wait wait... let me explain how im helping... maybe some people thinking in the wrong way...
My main task, is not teaching about RolePlaying and rules... its teaching the basics, movements, keys, the use of diferent channels, how to mine, how fill up others, what they need.... those things. About rules and proper RolePlaying, I ALWAYS send them to www.discoverygc.com rules/guides, because some rules changing and not everybody know when those change (inclusive experimented players)
This is what I do with the newbies. I know well i cannot teach them about RolePlaying due I was constantly in Pennsylvania and recieving a lot of OORP chats from newbies, its not an easy task, in these cases i always drop a message about "//avoid smilies", "//use // at the beggining of the line for ooRP chat but avoid it in local/system" and need to use local because there are more than 2 newbies around outside from group...
I remember situations with 5 newbie miners around... when i said something in ooRP local, inmediatly somene Pm me "//keep oorp out from local" damit... there are 5 newbies around, i cannot use 5 private messages for saying the same to each one of them. Please understand that.
In several cases, those newbies around... wihtout knowledge about what is Private, what is local, where is Attention Required... sometimes in Pennsylvania is needed to ooRP in local till you get them inside a group... not always they accepting it, just because didnt noticed of that request and/or what that mean...
I repeat, i NEVER teach them about how properly RolePlaying, about this, i can only say them "This is a roleplay server, so nobody can attack others just for being red" for example... and send them to check the Rules card and website rules...
When i said about im teaching them about Roleplaying, I mean just explaining them it is not a PvP server and we got some rules ...
Of course, I advise them about [Angels]... and when there are some around, i sent them to they.
