One random little thing I found while browsing reddit, the models made in the video reminded me a lot of rheinland caps, so I thought you guys might appreciate it. Not exactly sure how it works, might give it a try tho.

Under File > User Preferences... > Add-ons enable this script (search for "spaceship")
