People are so focused on the problem of too many capital ships in certain places that few think about which places actually need them. A lot of new players come here see the massive capital ships flying past and instantly say to themselves "I want one now." Wouldn't it be helpful if we had a roster of which factions need more independant capital ships.

This could also help other players aswell. I for one want to try again with the capital ship role-play. The other times I have taken the obvious choices: Liberty, Rheinland and the Outcasts. I have no idea which factions actually need more independant capital ships, and this way my role-play would be more unique. So instead of having people sick of me before I arrive because of others similar to me, I can arrive and people and think "Haven't seen this sort of thing in a while."

So, perhaps this thread should be dedicated to giving a list of factiond which do and do not need more independant capital ship pilots. Or factions that don't want any independant capital ships.

I did search to check if anything like this existed before and didn't find anything. But if there is a thread like this and I missed it, then I apologise.

"too many" is subjective, what you consider as too much - others might consider as too few. - and no, there is no right or wrong.

in general - no faction needs anything - but capital ships add to the fun of the faction ( usually do ) - thats all that can be said about it.

I hadn't thought of that (was rushing the post), so perhaps the respective faction leaders should post here and say how many they actually want - if they want any at all - so new players could be referred here and hopefully respect the leaders decisions. And if they don't, then they don't. And is always requesting to purchase a ship.

The Junkers could use one. Not a proper one , of course ( I wouldn't expect us to get anything other than some stupid good for nothing hybrid anyways), but something like an Industrial ships with smelters and storage houses. Give it a BC armor, some 2000-3000 cargo space, cruiser/GB guns , light/medium cruiser powerplant and the turning and size of a heavy BS.

It would be nice to have one, it would complete the whole "salvaging operations" thing. We would have small colectors, bigger Salvage Frigates and one big Industrial Ship.

EDIT: Mini-barge?

I mean people playing as capital ships representing the different NPC factions. Still, the Junkers should have some sort of ship like an Industrial unit anyway.

Oh , sorry. I skim read through your post and I understood actual ships , not ship captains. Well, I used to own a RPC, but I scraped it as a plot device to continue my story. I rarely used it anyways , Junkers really don't have enemies that justify using a full-blown military ship.

I'd prefer to seeing less things bigger then gunboat around. For example there are too much outcast destroyers with almost no RP experience or without even any. But I'd also make these ships only admin given so I guess I -might- be a bit extreme.

I would say everyone xept for Order, Corsairs, Outcast and the Liberty Navy could use some people playing Capital Captians.

What about a Molly-destroyer?? havent see one of those in action, and bretonia could use some good fights, there are dozens of bombers but not mutch to shoot with them.

Nah.. gonna have to correct you on this one. All factions need good capship captains.:)

Only by showing the noobs and inexperienced how its done, can we help them raise the bar. Ever notice how often the lolwuts (as we so nicely call them) tend to raise their RP a bit when in the presense of a great RPer?

I'm talking Jimmy, Tenacity, Xing, Stewcool, Zapp, Boss etc etc (there are far too many to mention actually)

Ironically the biggest problem with capwhores... is people who are responsible with them, don't fly them enough. Its not that there are too many:)
