Marduk is one of the worst battleships in the game and dies to pretty much everything because of its size. It doesn't even have any advantageous firepower compared to other heavy battleships apart from the nomad guns which aren't even that much better.

If GRN was along for the ride, you could bet on the Houses taking chunks out of each other at first. Even the Core might be able to help spice things up by targeting other human things to take the edge off the aliens.

The way this is looking, though, it's just going to be the Nomad side getting slaughtered again.

@Antonio: While underpowered on paper due to their size, Marduks do actually have some important advantages.

Firstly, they can charge at everything because they are heavier than everything. Yes, they can only mount 3 heavies, but 3 cerbs can already deplete a heavy powerplant, and it's not that the Tokugawa and the Bismarck have some great arcs with their heavies. I'm not going to explain why here, but being the chaser is advantageous in battleship combat.

Secondly, their textures make it hard to determine whether they are going towards you or away. Their face looks exactly the same as their arse, but not because they are ugly, rather because they are transparent.

Thirdly, while they are long, their waist, the part around the crosshair, is as narrow as a Crecy.

Fourthly, their shots all look the same. How are you going to prioritize dodging a Mortar if it looks exactly the same as a prim? Additionally, all of their shots are small and it is sometimes hard to tell where they are heading so you could dodge them. Sometimes it is even easy to just not see them if you are not looking directly at them.

Fifthly, the refire rate is good. "But Thunderer, isn't it lower than of other prims?" It is, but this is a good thing. Not only that it's easier to snipe, but the ray of pews doesn't actually form a ray, if you understand what I'm talking about. A line. A line with a direction, which you can evade because you can see its direction. Well, they don't form it. The fact that the shells don't have a visible trail behind them helps the Marduk here too.

And finally, it is the only battleship in the game that has an infinite cloak. Thus, you can stay cloaked forever and strike when the enemy doesn't expect you to. Or when they start striking each other.

Its flaws are the fact that it doesn't have flaks and its huge, unmissable size. However, no one is mad enough to send bombers to this snub slaughterhouse, so those won't be a problem. Light/medium battleships with Mortars will. But don't forget that there are multiple Houses on the other side, and some don't have light/medium battleships. In fact, there are only three participating in the whole event. And only four are heavy battleships, each lighter than a Marduk, some probably not even having 3 cerbs. Strategies with different ships are different and some Houses might choose to compete rather than unite. What will happen to them if they are suddenly and fiercely charged at by a steady line of, let's say, 6 Marduks? We just need MORE MARDUKS! and less fear, defeatism, tears and similar stuff more fitting for silent powertraders than the prime antagonists.

You should read the OP post. It states that things will get balanced out before the event starts. That means that if people can't balance the event out themselves, someone else will. I don't see the issue here. Tongue

Also, you might as well make a nomad yourself if you think that side is in need of support. Just saying.

I'm in K'Hara and Iseijin both, but thank you for the snippet of motivation. I'm still undecided as to whether I'm going to bother showing or not, though, which is why I haven't signed up yet.

I also saw the last event series around Newcastle and how the 'balancing' there went, so I'm more than a little cautious this time around.
