Besides, I think it should be pointed here that the discussion pages in a wiki bear great importance. They are used in order to communicate and coordinate the pages, which is why I'd suggest that everyone who actively writes for the wiki looks at the discussions under "Recent Changes".
What about unofficial factions? I've got a good bit I could do for Azure Line Shipping (good way to pass time 'til those name changes for me and TKShadow go through), but I've chosen not to mention it anywhere except on my User page just in case...
There are quite a few unofficial factions, so I figure some of them should be able to have a page made, if they have some sort of roleplaying explanation for their activities beyond "we're part of the Liberty Navy" or somesuch. (note: that example is just an example, not referring to any specific groups.)
Unofficial factions are a difficult subject, as there is no guarantee whether those groups will exist for a long time (and thus deserve an entire page) or not.
Just have a look at the "Unofficial factions"-thread in the RP Factions forum here, and you will see that there are tons and tons and even more tons of unofficial factions, mostly existing for one or two weeks only (!).
Of course, there are groups with much more consistent roleplay and presence on the server (I know what you feel, same situation for me with DSE) but they still stay unofficial.
A list with unofficial factions would be okay, in my opinion, an entire page would be a bit too much.

How do you work wiki in general? Besides the obvious searching etc.
Black Squadron is a player faction, therefore to be listed under Factions. There still is a discussion going on about the faction list though, so I'd wait a bit until you create a page for it. Maybe write up what you need as in this page and save it until we are clear on the factions.
Wiki is a bit strange to work with - basically, you need to create an internal link in order to access the page for the linked term (at least that's how I do it). Then, you use the given editor to write up a page. The editor itself is pretty self-explanatory. You could ask Nodwick for advanced information, he seems to be an expert:)

True enough, but I figure if one's willing to go to the work of actually making the page (and have it contain some actual information), there's a decent chance of it sticking around.
I figure it'd probably come down to space constraints, really, so long as such factions were clearly labelled as unofficial. But I'm not the one making that decision, and I have no idea how much space is available for this.
Igiss took the time to add the Player Factions and Player Groups pages, where official and unofficial Groups are listed, respectively.
I'm reformatting those into sortable tables with nice links. If you look at the page and find your faction / group with a red link, that means that there is no information about it. In that case, it'd be appreciated if you create the page. Maybe somecone could even prepare a template for this.
I've been doing miscellaneous stuff, I'm going to pull down a few links to images I have on my PhotoBucket for a few things.

About unofficial factions:
I think they should make their own pages, because the table on Player Groups isn't suited well for long descriptions (there should be no entries longer than 2 lines). If the faction has enough information to make more than a stub-page and exists for some time (I'd say more than 2 weeks), then they should go ahead and claim their spot.
I've been playing around with the odd bits and pieces, most notably the commodities section. I will get onto putting up a page for the official GC faction tonight though.
