That's the end of that discussion. It's violating the rules. Period.
You do realize that in this context character is a ship right? It means I can't have a ship DSE)name[101st] or tagged ship with the ID of other faction. In this case it's impossible to have NC-Oracle| ship.
Nope, that's wrong. Character means character, player means player, ship means ship.
Sombra your analogy is a bit reaching. Within Disco your faction, your ID and your name defines your character and what it can do for the explicit purpose of preventing as Zelot said, textbook metagaming.
The character in question may be working with the religious faction but being apart of it allows that person to do a role of two people, a clear use of metagaming, which I believe is the principle folks are trying to convey.

Once again, from an actual context it's saying that I can fly untagged ship with the official ID and it will not break the rules. Also mentionioning possible internal faction rules in that case. You are taking a part of text out of context which is a wrong way to work with with facts. I've made my previous example to show how badly it can actually work out.
I am quite sure it says what I think. But even if not, other rules say it:
Quote:Official Factions Rights & Responsibilities
All rules and regulations concerning faction creation procedure and home system claiming are listed in Faction Creation Rules thread.
Faction Creation Rules thread. Wrote:I. Process of making an unofficial faction or group:
1. Each faction has only one leader. The leader of the faction must also assign at least one second in command
2. Leader should choose an ID and IFF that all members of the group will use on their faction characters.
We had there sanctions for faction using more than ID after all.
That's the end of that discussion. It's violating the rules. Period.

It's a different context, Zelot.
Account = 8 Characters
Character = one ship
A roleplay character however can have more than one ship. The important difference here is
Character is a character on this account (up to 5 on each account).
Obviously "John Doe" is a character.
But in this case when I have John.Doe and Johnoe it is two characters in the context of that rule.
Actually again, no, John.Doe and Johnoe would be one character. As someone who had a hand in writing the faction rules, I will tell you, at least the intent was that this rule referred to characters and not ships. Each character only being allowed to be part of one faction used to be part of the general rules until it was split up into a million different sub-sections.
Account = maximum 5 characters (as that is the total number of spots)
Character = character, no matter how many ships they have.
Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't all those ships the same character all under the same rules and factions? I have two ships for Jimmy but they are still the same character.
A character can be in a faction and having as many ships there as it wishes as long it's faction tagged, and the very same character can fly as untagged Freelancer with an FL-ID. The same character cannot be in two different factions though.
