I stopped. Waited for the guy to type whatever... it took a while (~30s) but then:
500'000 to continue
At this time I was lvl 42, had just gotten 4 mil to buy a transport and had barely 500k leftover. Also, as I was completely new to the game, I had no clue how to open a trade:)more on that later.
I told him that he needed to check my level, and then notice that I might not have 500k to pay him.
His reply was 250 diamonds to be dropped then.
Well he only had a cargo hold of 70 so, being averse to "wasting" goods I told him he could only hold 70... so why waste?
He said: A "friend" will pick them up.
Ok said friend showed up as well right about then, and shot away my shields and got me down to 50% hull. Well whatever he must be the mentally challenged partner (note I didn't not remark on his mental abilities at all;))
Pirate #1 said: Hurry up I don't have all day.
I said: Well you need to earn your money like everyone else (while frantically trying to look up how to trade)
Then I got it (yay "U" key) and opened a trade, entered in 450k due to deducting repairs (he AGREED to this)
Then AFTER ok'ing the payment his mentally challenged partner shot me down to 30% health (after which I quickly repaired... you never know with these twits) causing me to lose 50% of my cargo. FIFTY PERCENT... now I'd lost 450k + 30k ish repairs (not including the pod that I lost) + ~1.5 mil worth of cargo... and I had COMPLIED WITH EACH AND EVERY DEMAND ON THE WAY.
While taking the trade route out of there I commented on the 2nd pirate being an "arse" (for shooting up my trader AFTER i'd payed for safe passage) which got me the "Kill xxx now" code... and was nearly dock killed by some other pirate in the system further down the line (he only opened up fire once I'd completely lost control in the docking sequence)
The next day I went and asked to talk to a "leader" of the fraction in question (OPG or something like that...) the kind Sir Mule posting above was referred to me. I told him the events, he said that he thinks that EVEN AFTER PAYING its fine to kill/damage/mutilate/whatever the trader. So basically there is NO FURTHER POINT in paying OPG or even trying to interact with them since they think they are above the rules.
I've tried to forget, I've tried SO HARD to forget...
As for this encounter, I was there. Anyway, this is what happened:
We're at cambridge, we stop you, tax you. You take a long time doing it, so I said "hurry it up"
You said "you need to earn your money like everyone else"
(now think about it, 3 or 4 pirates (don't remember exact number) have you at gunpoint. do you REALLY expect to make a comment like that and get away clean with it??)
So I take a few shots at your hull and said "how's that for earning my money?"
You pay and as you take the lane. you say something about me "that triggerhappy ass" you said, talking about the OPG's current leader. So one of the fighters went down on you and took a few shots at your hull.
Think about it now. Do you REALLY, honest to god, think that you can be cheeky during a hold up, insult the leader of the group and get away clean with it? I hope you do, so that one day when IRL you're in that same situation, you make the same mistake and darwin's law does to you what has been done to many many stupid people in this world.
oh and since you brought it here, let's make sure everyone gets to see your dirty laundry.
This guy, Jacina in game, PMs me. "Hey some of your members shot at me to like 30% hull AFTER I paid them tax. I want compensation or I'll be taking this to admins."

you don't lose cargo until you're dead, unless you're so brain dead, the game considers you an NPC.
Quote:and was nearly dock killed by some other pirate in the system further down the line (he only opened up fire once I'd completely lost control in the docking sequence)
Once youve 'completely lost control, you stop taking damage, the shots don't hurt you.

I think for every stupid thing you've said here (there are plenty) theres a few dozen people on the forums and in game, who'll disagree with you.
You're twisting my words, you threatened us with a sanction, what I said to you was. That shooting at you till 30% hull isn't a sanctionable offense, regardless of whether it was before or after the tax was paid, and that there was no explicit rule regarding how often a trader can be pirated. So don't come here saying I said pirates can kill a trader after accepting tax ye filthy liar.
I don't think that anyone will take him seriously Asno, that's why I'm not upset at all. He is a player, that joined forums and his first two posts were an open attack with more than one lie about the OPG.
Now, I'm not saying we're perfect, or that we don't get carried away sometimes doing our "job", but that makes us even more in the "zone".
Just picture it nicely.
I had a junker today passing trough 41 carrying the Aliens. My character likes junkers, and they're pretty much neutral so I asked him to stop from 9k distance. He stopped. I said I'm impressed and If he wants to continue he can, but if he wants to make a really really small donation once in a while, he surely can.
he donated 4mil.
I was looking for 100k.
See now, he bought himself there a week of free passages or even more, when I'm around. Other OPG doesn't have to think so, but he did make a progress in his roleplay with us.
I'm willing to cut anyone some slack if they're willing to cut me some as well. But when I say stop your engines after I cd him and he continues to "glide" towards the jump hole thats 5k away, my tolerance keeps dropping and the bill keeps rising. (i never go past 2mil, and that's very very rare as well)
1. You shot me up after that comment yeah, which is why I then deducted (with agreement) 50k for repairs.
2. You (AFTER the payment) shot me up AGAIN, that time costing me 50% of my cargo.
When saying "kill him" you also said you'd give me back my payed money after killing... interesting you adhere to the rules there
3. I said I was asking you for compensation for destroying my cargo after paying for "free travel" (hah) and if you wouldn't I'd ask about a rule clarification on this (from admins duh) as my understanding of the rules is that paying for "free passage" is EXACTLY THAT and not getting your cargo shot out from under you.
Obviously from a RP POV, if you shoot up people after they pay for free passage, people will not pay anymore.
4. If telling you guys that is considered a grave insult... well uhm grow a thicker skin, as a pirate you'll probably meet a lot worse.
Insults were only tossed around once I'd noticed you blew up my cargo AND got my payment...
You don't kill the goose that lays the golden eggs...
My reactions? I'll be VERY VERY careful at even attempting to RP with OPG's again. Especially your ships. You don't guarantee free passage after payment? Ok skip the whole payment part then o.O
(about the whole running to forums 1st post whine etc thing, it took a long time for my registration to come through due to difficulties on both ends (admins and me) so this wasn't a whole "spur of the moment sign up and whine" posting... but eh whatever... when there are 2 sides to a fight, each side "bends" the facts to how they like them)
I've tried to forget, I've tried SO HARD to forget...
Actually I'm not either fighting or arguing here, just stating the fact that I see. I have over 100 pirates in OPG Mentira and some really lovely roleplay with either them or the bounty hunters that try to chase me.
Those things I mentioned above tell me that I'm doing my job well, and that even if I make a glitch from time to time (like when megiddo appeared right next to me and I ran towards corsairs who met him with bit.. excessive firepower) I make sure it stays well within the rules of engagement.
Trust me, I don't like violence much, maybe thats why I pirate in transport, but when I actually advised them to give you the money back and simply send you home with huge repair bill, it means you deserved it.
Yeah well as stated... I was being snarky so the 1st bit didn't bother me... getting shot up once... but getting shot up AGAIN AFTER PAYING did get to me... I thought that was the whole point in paying.
Oh well /shrug I hear good stuff about you Ivan, and you weren't involved in the shooting so np... however I will think twice about interacting with Mule and any of his ships.
I've tried to forget, I've tried SO HARD to forget...
I lose 1 of my pods, I lost 50% of my cargo... quite simple really. ( I have 2, and 1 got shot off)
Ohhh wait you mean I could have just kept going and sold all the cargo since it wasn't in the pods (which are purely cosmetic) but in my ship itself. I find that hard to reconcile with RP but ymmv
I'm very bad with names so forgive me for forgetting, I only remember seeing the guy that stopped me (by the way the guy I was tagging along with doesn't speak a single word of english... and you were quite rude to him... but eh it is an english server) I didn't exactly have time to chk all the others that showed up as I was diving into the manual.
I've tried to forget, I've tried SO HARD to forget...
So.. you KNOW you didn't lose cargo, you're saying you RP lost cargo, and you were demanding I pay you for half the cargo, or you would report me, KNOWING that you didn't lose any cargo..?
Quote:Then AFTER ok'ing the payment his mentally challenged partner shot me down to 30% health (after which I quickly repaired... you never know with these twits) causing me to lose 50% of my cargo.
