Why northwestern Sirius? Perhaps it's in a completely new galaxy, and the Map will be extended. I know it is possible to create a completely new universe somehow. Saw it in another mod.
In a brilliant tactical movement, i charged backwards.
I think, and to me, the most logical thing to do would be to make the French a pirate faction (Le Resistance?) and have them arrive and take some systems (new in 4.85) where the Tau's are, in northwestern Sirius.
So how bout a Zurich system near rheinland for me to play in?
well they probably already own the most Tau systems as, iirc, they have developed on their own in secret from the others so they would have an established economy and military before revealing themselves to the rest of the sirius sector
This has come up before, but no one seemed to really address it...
The French House was isolated from the rest of Sirius for about 800 years, with, as far as we know, no knowledge about the Daam K'Vosh artifacts or the Nomads. Since our present day technology is derived from these artifacts, wouldn't the French House be technologically behind by about 100-200 years? I don't think they could have created their own type of jump gates or trade lanes because Alien Artifacts are only found in Omicron Gamma, Theta, Major (that brown planet near the Dyson Sphere entrance where Rheinland first got possessed) and Planet Manhattan (by Valhalla or present day Ageria Technologies). These places are nowhere near the Tau Systems, so would that mean we would have to travel through the French House in cruise speed and jump holes only?
Btw, I think we should name the new house Francia, the Latin name for France which meant "land of the Franks." Since the Franks occupied France and Germany during the reign of Charlemagne, I think this seems appropriate. We could also call it Gaul (Latin: Gallia; French: Gaule), which is what the Franks originally called France and Germany. That's 4 choices I listed. Anyone think we should use them?
Carlos Rivera: Corsair Brotherhood Pirate - Retired, shifted to Tripoli Shipyard's Research and Development engineering teams Anthony Cameron: Guild Core Bounty Hunter - Killed in Action, committed suicide after being trapped in Omicron Minor following its destruction Juan Ruiz: Outcast Ghost of Razgriz Pirate - Killed in Action, killed by the Sirius Coalition Revolutionary Army during Bretonian piracy raid Michael Winchester: Liberty Security Force Agent - Missing in Action, likely killed during Rheinland espionage mission or trapped in Rheinland Space Eric McCormick: Order Pilot - Retired, shifted to planetside training of new recruits
Ooh, you bring up a good point. Unless they uber-haxxor steal everything, they are at least 200 years behind, if not more. Going through their systems in cruise and jumpholes isn't so bad, think Omicrons.
But still, I can't see how their technology could compete unless they found a veritable gold mine of Daam K'Vosh technology. Or are aligned with the Nomads.

If you'd have played Starlancer, you'd know that the Coalition had developed Jump Gates even before the fall of the Alliance. Very low power in comparison to Freelancer's, but Jump Gates none the less. Before that, everyone, including the Alliance when the Coalition developed the Gates, used Jump Engines, which didn't travel very far, and obviously weren't as easy on fuel...
It is very possible that the French have developed Jump Gates, and I don't really know where everyone is getting the idea that the houses have gotten all their technology from Alien Ruins. If there is some reference to the technological reliance on alien artifacts, then please point me to it, but until I see said reference, I refuse to believe that the humans are THAT incompetent as to not improve on technology developed 800 years prior to their migration....

[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.

how do you know if they havent had contact with the Nomads or some other type of alien?? for all we know they could of actually got in contact with a completly new alien species, became allies and now the french could possibly 100 years more advanced than us
and although there are alien artifacts in the Omicrons doesnt mean that they are the only places they are to be found on, alot more likly that there are more aliens than just the Nomads and Damm K'vosh you know
All the assumptions Klaw and I made were based on this. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to further discuss this.
As for there being jumpgates in Starlancer, that's news to me, so maybe the French wouldn't be completely bereft. However, unless they have a fully fledged military and industry, they wouldn't bother making jump gates instead of using jump holes- remember, they don't have Ageira's "JH = bad" propaganda to muscle through.
