Name:

Joshua Bone

Age:

24

Character background:

I was Born on New London and learn to fly ships when I was 15. I grew up in a simple family with just me and my mother. I freelanced as a solo transporter moving goods from New London to New Berlin and have become very familiar with the trade route. I have been hoping to support my mother more to where she no longer needs to work as a waitress in restaurants. I have looked all over and found myself at the Recruiting Office for Gateway Shipping.

Motivation for joining Gateway:

I wish to further my career in transporting goods for Bretonia. I would like to make more money to help support my family back on New London. I also want to be an official worker for Bretonia and stop doing freelance jobs with irregular jobs schedules.

Name:

Byron Rees

Age:

53

Character background:

A veteran of the Bretonian Armed Forces auxiliary trade fleet; Byron spent much of his career shipping parts and supplies to Armed Forces bases throughout Bretonia and the Taus. When the war with Gallia broke out he was reassigned to the HMS McGovern and promoted to Quartermaster. The McGovern was tasked with supplying forward bases in Leeds, Newcastle and Dundee for the opening years of the conflict. After three years of service on the McGovern the existing captain was promoted out of his station which was then filled by Rees upon recommendation of his peers.

Some time in the following weeks proceeding Rees' promotion the McGovern was ambushed by mollies in the Dublin system and driven into Edinburgh. The McGovern was met by an overwhelming gallic force and suffered severe damages to her aft quarters and was disabled. The vessel and it's crew were later towed safety by a passing Gateway patrol commissioned to supply the terraforming operation on Ayr.

Upon arrival in dry dock the McGovern was deemed damaged beyond repair and it's entirety is to be scrapped for parts. The crew were offered an early discharge in light of the enourmous financial strains on the regiment. Some have been reallocated to various postings throughout the Bretonian fleets, though most have accepted the offer and sought out work in corporate aerospace.

Motivation for joining Gateway:

My military career is over. I've got a good set of skills useful to any corporation. I'm good at what I do, and i'm not ready to put that to rest yet. Gateway did me a solid by rescuing me and the lads from the freezer, we're looking to return the favour.

Character background:

Childhood
795 A.S - 812 A.S
Rory was born on planet New Berlin. As a child, he was a fairly balanced and calm child, who did not give parents a lot of problems. He did not know his origin, although he had heard that he was a native of the Mollys. His family was too strange on the background of the others. For example, they preferred not to speak Rheinland. So, there were many problems. Rory studied well at school. He mastered chemistry perfectly.
University
812 A.S - 817 A.S
Rory enters the metallurgical university. He combines study with the initial military training, preparing himself for military service. However, he dramatically changes his decision, after his brother dies in one of the many battles with the Unioners. After graduation, he gets a job on Alster shipyard.
The siege of Alster Shipyard.
824 A.S
At 824 A.S The Unioners planned an attack on Alster Shipyard. They planted a toxic bomb there. Rory was the only one who saw it. He tried to prevent the attack, but the station's management didn't take any actions. When the bomb worked... The station began to panic. People knocked each other, dying of poisonous gas. Rory, finding the body of the guard, takes off his armor and clothes. After this, disguised, he leads a group of engineers, blocking the section. Unfortunately, the management of the station did not appreciate his feat and decided to dismiss him. After dismissal, he leaves himself a form of guard, weapons and leaves Rheinland. He wants to find a new life there, in Liberty.

Motivation for joining Gateway:

It is a good opportunity to start a new life.

Name:

Elliot Emmet Hines

Age:

31 Years Old

Character background:

I suppose the most important thing you could know about me is that I am, chiefly, a team player. When I was a younger lad kicking my can on New London, I had my sights set on Her Majesty's Armed Forces, but, well, we'll just say that "family matters" closed that door to me. Not to be deterred, I earned my wings in the Police Authority instead, and man, I had a tight squadron. We'd bin smugglers and pirates like nobodies business, and always shared a good round after. Some of the best folks I've had the pleasure of sharing space with. I'd probably still be with them if those bloody Gauls didn't swoop into Leeds and make a mess of things. I ended up on the receiving end of an honorable discharge after a nasty bit of business with them. The others weren't so lucky.

Following that, I've been freelance shipping ever since I moved to Liberty. On my own at first, living out of my Clydesdale, but I made some contacts while working there, and they were sensible enough to help me finance a proper transport and hire a solid crew. We've been running this way for the last three years, flying a Serenity-class transport under the designation "Broadway", which I found to be a suitably Libertonian designation. The shipping lanes have been good to us, and we've raked in a solid living working together, which as a captain I am immensely proud to say.

Motivation for joining Gateway:

Here's the reason that me and the lads are not perfectly content with the above situation: a "solid living" is hardly enough scratch for any veteran spacer! We had an alright reputation, but there's only so much that a respectable individual will trust to some freelancer crew, and that limits our potential earnings. So my second officer suggested I look into signing us on with a corporation. Now, I wasn't about to give some corp like Ageira or Daumann the benefit of our prided workmanship. No, I'd only sign on with a proper Bretonian company. I've not forgotten what team I play for on the grand scale, especially with the Gauls still bearing down on our House. I've seen how BMM operates though, and they make me sick to my stomach, I say! I'll admit that I considered Bowex, too, but I must say that flying for the underdog in this feud you chaps have been keeping up is a mite more interesting to me personally, not to mention that we have a lot to gain from your connections. It's in that spirit that I put forth the request that you enlist myself and my crew into the employ of Gateway Shipping's logistics division. Profits await, after all.

Character background:

I've been working on ships in one form or another since I first signed up to the crew of a scrap barge at the ripe age of fourteen, where I learnt the spacer's trade among the scrap fields of Sirius. It was a somewhat uncomfortable life, but whatever happened to the good old Bretonian stiff upper lip eh? The pay was good and the crew were like family to me, but all good things come to an end and I parted with the crew on the best of terms to make my fortune in the Armed Forces.

I suppose life didn't change very much. I enrolled as an officer in 788 and spent the next fifteen years in service to the Crown in the southern reaches of Bretonia, serving on the gunboats HMS-Antelope and HMS-Gallant, the latter a particularly fine ship, and then as the principal warfare officer aboard the destroyer HMS-Ramsbottom.

The winds of change eventually blew again in 803 after I decided to take a very sporting voluntary redundancy package following budget cuts to the Fleet. I spent a number of years dabbling in the work of self-employed work in the convoy escort business but it never offered me the security that I find desirable in a job, so in 806 I applied successfully to be given the captaincy of a Hegemon mining ship in the employ of Bretonia Mining and Manufacturing, which I had overseen the running of until two weeks ago.

That job ended with my ship destroyed at the hands of the Corsairs. There is an ongoing investigation into the loss so I am unable to give further details, but I was advised, and chose, to hand in my resignation to BMM.

That leaves me where I am today.

Motivation for joining Gateway:

Job security, competitive salary and benefits and the need to be on a bridge again of a ship that helps make the wheels of Bretonian industry turn.
