I second this notion - The extended intro was not part of the base campaign/game, and should be seen as a easter egg and NOT canon, IMHO. As for this Co-Op campaign, It'd be nice, but I'd also love to see something culminate from this, probably in the not too far future (4.93, 4.95, perhaps), in the server RP environment. Part of me still wants my character to one day return home.

The extended intro is canon for discovery. Clearly mentioned previously from the devs. We aren't aware if there ever was a retcon about this.

Well, pointless discussion. There is an official dev statement required on the forums as we won't quote our former discovery dev. Regardless to this a drastic change of this project must not be expected.
