So, given all of the different sound files that are alterable in Freelancer, is it possible to replace the voice files of your ship computer's voice? You know, the one that gives you key notifications like "Danger - Radiation damage detected."

I kinda want to try and voice-act replacements, and wonder if replacing those files is possible before embarking on something like this.

I know it's possible to alter the voice files of random NPCs (See: Rheinlander speaking German, Gallics speaking French, Coalition speaking Russian, etc), so I figure the nav-computer's voice files wouldn't be much different.

Edit: If yes, then what recording programs and what file format would be necessary for integration into Freelancer's antiquities?

You can do this by editing "Data/Audio/nnvoice.utf" with the UTF editor.

Oh, cool! Thanks, Laz.

As a side note, would custom pilot voices need to be filtered through some sort of audio-editing to give them that radio-style quality? Or am I stressing it too much?
