Not that it is a big deal, the game seems to startup fine after clicking ok and have no issues while the game is running except lag and warping. But nonetheless i figured i might as well post here and show the message i get every time i start the game since this last update. Not sure why it does this or what is failing to load.

We updated our version of Visual Studio we use for certain bits of programming. You need to download the Visual C++ 2017 runtime.

It appears you're running on Windows XP. Windows XP has been out of extended support for four years now and is incredibly insecure. We unofficially no longer support it and equally unofficially I wish you godspeed for connecting such a machine to the internet.

I to have internet connected XP OS last 4 years and I experience no problems at all, except in games/programs that are not meant for XP . Heck, even most of our hospitals and gowerment organizations still use XP !
It is only illusion that you need any kind of support for XP from Microsoft.
XP is only insecure if you use Internet Explorer as a browser , if you cut off that piece of crap, it is not more insecure that any other windows .

That's not how it works, pal. XP has a massive amount of security flaws, combine that with the 4 years out-of-date and you have a malware magnet. You're probably just getting insanely lucky.
Also 99% of applications nowadays don't support XP. You are hardcore shooting yourself in the foot by keeping that OS on your computer, same with your so-called "government organizations and hospitals".

Someone found and 0-dayed a remote code execution in Windows XP's version of MSHTML within three weeks of EoES. MSHTML is used not only in IE but also in File Explorer, Help, and other components of Windows XP. The fact you haven't been ransomwared yet is a literal miracle and you should go buy some lottery tickets.

I don't know what our path is going forward but I suspect it'll involve officially no longer supporting Windows XP. We can't guarantee the tools we use to develop extended functionality for Freelancer will support targeting the OS in the future, so we can't guarantee that we will be able to support it either.

This is dangerously wrong. Government organisations and hospitals using XP still likely have:
* incompetent IT, or
* very expensive (multi-million-pound) extended support from MS, with the machines airgapped or at least heavily locked down (that is to say, access to network and certainly internet resources on a deny-by-default whitelisted basis).

Besides which we're not going to set requirements for a game based on what such organisations use. It is expected that individual home users (our userbase) will upgrade vastly quicker than large organisations.

You will find that there is no supported version of Chrome (last was 49) for Windows XP, and the last version of FF to support XP (and Vista), version 52, stops receiving security updates in about 5 weeks time (end of August).
And even then, web browsers are not the only program on your computer that will be talking to random untrusted machines over the internet.

Yea XP is out of date, if i had a windows 7 or higher pc i would be playing something way better than this old game. : D

Not upgrading my pc for quite a while, game still runs, if you update it passed the point to run on this system well guess everything will be a loss.

Funny thing too after reading some comments, been running this rig for at least 6 years and never had an issue with viruses/malware etc. But i know tons of people with windows 7-10 who do all the time. But this is mainly an old gaming machine so i do not download or browse all kinds of stuff with it to put it at risk. Unless this forum isn't safe?

This sort of thing does largely depend on the nature of user behaviour, services running and their own security, etc.

This forum allows users to include resources from arbitrary external sources (e.g. images). I would not browse it (or anything else really) without an up-to-date browser but I wouldn't say it's likely to be less safe than most other gaming sites.

Yea no matter what antivirus or security, would say the largest section of infected computers come from being installed by the users themselves. : )
