People are entitled to preference, but those people are only fragmenting and isolating themsleves from the majority of the community that have moved on to Discord. And for everyone else who wants to completely drop Skype for a plethora of reasons (updates, adware, bots, ads, resource usage etc), they can't because one or two people in their faction chats or whatever won't make the switch. It's incredibly frustrating, having to go out of your way for them, because they stubbornly refuse to get Discord. You can even use Discord in your browser without having to download the app. Yet people don't even do that.

Is it me or you are you basically saying "People are entitled to have preference, but those who use skype are bad and should feel bad because they are sabotaging effort of all those great people who want to fully move to Discord and save the world"?

Seriously Lyth, you behave like you must be paid by Discord to advertise it recently. You are basically switching to typical PR aggresive communication strategy talks used when producer of some new product is trying to steal rival´s customers. Will we also get "every time you launch Skype, kitten dies in the world" talk?

Edit: And by the way, it´s interesting to see how voices of people who were forced to move to Discord because for example faction chat was switched but are not content with it are widely ignored and those who promote it pretend these complaints do not exist.

On a ragebreak. Or ragequit. Time will tell.

I would be happy to switch to discord entirely if it weren't vastly inferior to skype in terms of usability and organization.

That I don't speak to the majority of the Community, then staying on Skype isn't going to make much difference, to me, then.

Lyth, if you don't want to talk to me on Skype, then I am happy to remove you from the contacts and if you need to talk to me, then there is the good old reliable pms.

You are happy with Discord (until something, in your opinion, comes along that is better), then good luck to you. Just because a majority of people, supposedly, say that Discord is the bees-knees, doesn't make it so. Have a read up on 'Sheep Mentality Studies' (also known as Herd Mentality). The majority isn't always right.

Let people use what ever form of communication they want and if it is too big a problem for you, don't speak to them. I don't want to be accused of holding you back.

As for this, I don't want another form of communication cluttering up my day. I have enough to read on Skype without having to read things on Discord as well.

Not bashing Discord and disliking Skype makes me a corporate shill? Pardon? You're sounding a little bit hypocritical there.

But in all seriousness, my point is it's very frustrating especially as a leader to support two platforms of communication just because one or two people stubbornly refuse to even at least just run both platforms at once and keep to Skype purely. Or if a bunch of friends want to move to Discord and one person refuses to follow suit and gets in the way of that. I'm not really concerned about anyone else if they're not in chats I share with them and/or need to talk to them frequently.

Complaints with faction chats are an adapt or die sort of thing. You can complain all you like, but if the majority of people hop over and then faction leader makes Discord a requirement, then you have to adapt. It's not really much different to people who joined factions but wouldn't have Skype or would refuse to keep it running unless necessary or outright say it was a dumb requirement.

This isn't how I read into that at all, Laura. What I took away from that statement is that people who refuse to use Discord make his job as a faction leader difficult. At no point did I take away from that statement any sort of implication about the character of the people who refuse to move. It is actually possible to point out a logistic problem without attacking somebody's character, and as an OFL I'm 110% onboard with Lyth in his statement.

I don't think you have the luxury to expect other people to do something you yourself don't want to, especially when you're complaining about the very few Core indies you have. Not that I really care about it, but there is a flaw in your own argument there.

Since using Discord the number of Core indies has gone up lol. It's far more effective than our Skype chats ever were in that regard, as well as in getting people logged and organised.

+1
Why the heck are there discussions about this every 2 weeks when it simply doesn't matter. Communication between the community wouldn't increase.
