I have read this Thread with interest (I generally only play in the 2 Houses that are involved in this conflict).

I was not involved on either side, but did watch from halfway through the 3rd part and the whole of the 4th part.

Not everyone who sided on the Bretonian's behalf want to 'delete Gallia', but possibly don't want to see Bretonia 'burn'.
Likewise not everyone who sided with Gallia want to see Bretonia 'burn'.

The allowance of the 'Freelancers' to participate in the 1st part could be seen as the 'Dunkirk spirit' that was seen in WWII when Britain's back was against the Wall.

Any Event that allows the Players to decide the outcome will always become 'one-sided'. This has to become an accepted fact, as one side will always have a bigger 'Player Base' than the other/better PvPers than the other or a mixture of both.

For all the 'we were ganked by 3 vs 1 or any other such number', looking at Durandal's Post, whether you call it a 'Win' for Gallia or a 'Draw', it shows that the outnumbering really didn't make much of a difference other than if the sides had been equal, it would probably have been a complete whitewash for the Gallic side.

On both sides, there was some that were using the 'must win at all costs' strategy.

I find it strange that there appear to be a lot of Gallic/Corsair Player's that are complaining about how 'unfair' it was, even though the Results appear to show otherwise. If there is so much invested interest in seeing Gallia 'win' how come Gallia is the Ghost Town it is?

I feel that the biggest problem here is, that people forget that this is a Game which is supposed to be played for fun. That people take it too seriously is the reason why we have so much 'hatred' at times.

We have a mixed Player Base, some that live for PvP, whether in Caps or Snubs, others like the Trading (not necessarily to make money for 'Big Ships'), some come here to Chat and relax. Each of you have your reasons, for being here, just learn to accept that your way, of seeing things, isn't necessarily the way others see it.

EDIT: Also, throughout the Event 1/3 of the Players, on the Server, appeared not to have a vested interest in being involved in the Conflict.

I agree with St. Denis.
And about what he said about hatred. I think that as long as the wounds are not healed, there will always be rocks being thrown at someone. Often in those who do not deserve it.

Forget about GRN vs BAF for a second. Look at it as a group of players vs a group of players. The point of events (and playing this game in general) is to make as many people as possible have fun. Only then comes storyline progress and everything else. Fun comes from different sources and varies from person to person, it can be a plethora of reasons why someone enjoys something such as just PvP, watching dozens of torpedoes explode, being happy to see the server full, feeling you're contributing in a way, etc. etc.

The best way you make people have fun at the end of an event is to reward them somehow. It just so coincidentally turns out that a draw allows you to reward both parties and consequentially both playerbases. A draw that only rewards one party is the worst outcome one can make because it not only doesn't reward one side for being equal, but it rewards the other side at the same time which multiplies it. It's gonna be a huge kick in the balls for the Gallic side and all the players that had to go through an already relatively unrewarding task of shooting NPCs for 3+ hours with the main damage source (Novas) not launching or tracking half the time.

I sincerely hope the final decision regarding the matter will consider that fact to not only make this event enjoyable for as many as possible but also encourage them to partake in any future events scheduled.

Best draw decision would be both sides completing their objectives.

Blow up the Valor and put a corsair battleship in New London.

It was an extraordinary event. I loved it to death. Although it killed my videocard to 20 fps,it was very fun. And the fight at the end was amazing. I managed to kill somebody in the end.
I can't wait for the next event. Please make more. You have my full support.

I like that because it makes it easier for the Corsairs to leave their ships nearby and assist the GRN in game on time.

Exactly. There are different draws to be made (for instance not doing anything with the ships at all) but I think in terms of reward and progress it'd be much better to destroy the Valor and put the Murmillo in.

@St.Denis The player-decided events will always have one flaw that is PVP skills - and player count. Players with lesser skills are bound to lose. Player-decided events won't work on Discovery because other side cannot compensate their weak PVP skills with anything else.

It's not Elite Dangerous where average-skill players can counter the lowering faction's influence with boosting economy through trading and salvaging missions -- as Combat Zones during Civil War between two factions in ED are brutal (despite ships being NPCs) even for people who easily murder NPC pirate ships.
