What do you fellow Junkers think is the right answer for a neutral to unfriendly faction scrapping in our fields.

This thread is rich with thoughtful, incisive ideas and displays (in places) an almost romantic notion of a community that acts as a conduit between the lawful and the criminal elements of Sirius. What needs underlining here is the natural unity of purpose that true Junkers feel. We dont need to trumpet our ways to the rest of Sirius or artificially reinforce who we are, like other clans do.

Junkers are itinerant by nature, but I have my usual haunts. We all do. I trade legitimately, but like all Junkers I am an opportunist and have no qualms about a bit of smuggling or piracy on the weak. I am a loner, but I have teamed up with other Junkers (& quite a variety of pilots from differing factions) for mutual gain. Ive procured hard-to-get merchandise for those without the connections, acted as a middleman between naturally opposed factions, loaned money, been the eyes reporting back to pirates on a plunder. Sirius is kind to Junkers.

Much of our didicoy ways will be handed down from generation to generation, but I see us as more of a social understanding, than merely a biological grouping, with a mixture of educations & past professions. I see no reason why a Junker cannot excel educationally in any field, but I also envisage our Elders nurturing business savvy into their young as a preference.

When I see a Junker I see a potential brother, but not all prove worthy of the Junker ID. Sadly a few see a power vacuum and choose to fill it with military notions believing that waving banners suits our needs more than quiet no-questions-asked business. I disagree with all my heart, as our Elders have taught us how to live on the fringes of lawful society. Id rather be viewed as an inconvenient truth, than a recognisable threat.

When my ship has been repaired & I have straightened by rep with the Trafalgar Elders you will see a lot more of me.

The thing about Junkers is that they are all different BECAUSE they are Junkers.
But I tell you what...If I see another Junker under attack, I will defend him, preferably
by words first and if that doesn't work, lasers. Or peer pressure. Or other things.

It depends. If I see a business opportunity I will pursue that. If I have an Ace over the
faction I'll use that. If I can convince them to back down and come have a drink with me, I'll do that.

The question is too broad to answer with a simple yes or no.

I've noticed that many players who make machine characters work either with or in the Junkers. How do you all think the Junker people or at least the Junkers you represent would respond to the relitively high number of independent AIs in thier midst. How do your Junkers cope? I play one of those machines. But I am thinking of designing a unit that is intelligent and man sized, so able to walk among the bio forms. What would be the likely responce for a machine composed of nanites walking in a chrome humanoid form?

I believe it may be safe that when it comes to independent machines the Junkers may adopt the "if it cant be salvaged then it's free" additude.

What do ya'll say?

We are Junkers. As long as the AI is no threat, why shall we care about? You might be strange and seen suspicious, but noone of us will throw the first stone ever.

If you should become a threat, well, you'll be salvaged and your parts sold on the black market for a good price.

I was off line when the Harvesters began & I am sure your inception was heavily scrutinised as with all emerging groups, especially when you want to play R2D2s. I would have joined in, but that time has passed. In short, you have been accepted by the those who think as I do & that is good enough for me. Work within the Junker umbrella & there will be no problems.

Let me introduce my Junkers.

Nikolaus Tinkerer, Captain and pilot of "The Rustbucket" Armored Transport.
Vladimir Kostakov, Captain and pilot of "Dirty Sally" Pirate Train

They were raised in simple working-class families, they grew up together and they worked for DSE for about 10 years, making it to the "Employee of the month" wall of fame frequently. Yet they were fired without real reasons. That's what you get for bleeding and slaving for about a decade.
Naturally, they were not pleased and in the confusion of the moment, wanted revenge. Since they were both technologically-inclined they joined what seemed the best choice. The Junkers. All the freedom and tech they could ever want.

***
-Vladimir is a bit cold-hearted. He loves smuggling "C", making cash, living large, spending money, buying all the new tech and shiny things. He likes being surrounded by women (well-paid, beautiful women) and could not care less about the world around him, as long as he's living good.
-For him, technology means buying the best devices for the job, from a smuggler, and connecting it all together with the minimum fuss.
-While he's not the smartest guy around, he can talk you into buying the Pequena Negra or the Manhattan Docking Rings, if he sees profit in that.
-However, being in love with humanity (albeit just the female half of it) he does not enjoy killing. Robbing you blind, yes. Murdering you, no.
-He thinks "Junker For Life" and he really means it.
***

-Nikolaus is a guy with mixed feelings. Usually he is emotionally unstable, yet that is somehow keeping him focused. He likes the solitude of his ship and spends most of his time exploring around or tinkering with whatever is at hand. He often cries over the fate of the world and dreams that he could change it, make a difference. He does not care much about most of the people, and thinks that somehow, they deserve their fates. Thus, with no respect for life whatsoever, he could kill you without even blinking. Killing a person is just like unplugging a useless piece of machinery, to make room for some other piece of machinery that actually does its job properly.
-For him, technology means stealing or scavenging old pieces of junk that are totally inappropriate for the job and then tinkering and tuning them until they do said job, about as good as an expensive device.
-He is rather smart and keeps reading all kinds of stuff, however, most of it are technical manuals. He could debate with you over any subject, but would rather use that time in a more productive manner. Say, rewiring some power conduits.
-He probably COULD talk you into buying the Pequena Negra or the Manhattan Docking Rings, if he sees profit in that, however he would most likely shoot you instead, to save some time.
-He thinks "This world is a nice place, too bad there are people all around screwing it up" and he really means that.
-Lately he thinks about leaving the Junkers and joining a better cause. Perhaps the SCRA. Maybe something can be done for this world after all.

Have you ever seen a female Junker?

That's why I go to Trafalgar & hang out with Lucy Williams or Laura Rumsey. Very friendly young ladies & it helps me to be neutral in Hispanic eyes

Female Junkers? Heavens, no!
Since when females know how to hold a spanner or a plasma torch?
Or the difference between nuts and bolts, for that matter!

Nay, I usually meet my ladies on Mactan or Cape Wrath, but that's not a rule. Wherever there's cash, there will always be women.

Well my Junker is best friends with Ratchet, an AI unit. He thought for years that Ratchet was human and after finding out he was a robot had no ill will. Now he uses Ratchet's robotic talents to his advantage. He pretends to "own" Ratchet incase any authorities get upset about a sentient AI but thats just a cover.

So all friendly AIs are welcome on the Culebra smelter =)
