If i am stopped and RP'ing with you in open chat it is highly unlikely i am calling for the cops. Personally if i stop i am going to pay up because there is not much chance of getting away once you stop. So why not RP it out and get paid instead of blasting me the instant you decide it is time to. I can see where if a trader is close to a gate and is inching towards it that you might need to open up on them but if the guy is dead in space and chatting he will most likely pay up. Unless like one of the posts above you make outrageous demands before you kill him. (which if i have read correctly is against the rules and can get you sanctioned)
I have run into several pirates who RP very well and some who could use just a bit of improvement and then there are the ones who all you ever hear from them is "HALT 2 mil or die". We each have our own style and role we like to play so we need to have a little more fun with it and see how it goes. You never know you might enjoy the game a lot more and maybe just maybe more players will start trying to RP better instead of the dreaded "2 mil or die" crap that you see much to often.
Not quite like that but dont exspect an epic tale. They have the gun to your head. You have a few choices and not long to make them.
If your empty, your crew can still be sold as slaves to the Junkers and OC.
That works for the Corsairs too, except that the crew would become food.
Pirating while empty is different, and harder to play right. Taxing you a significant bit less sounds like a fair start. Like, 200k rather than 2 million.
Oh well.. Depends on how rude he really is.
If he's allright and agrees to pay one million tax I'ld let him pass. If not I'ld tax him a million and send him back where he came from to come with something from corsairs.

First off, some pirates don't like you in the first place. If Sousuke had a choice, then he wouldn't even ask for money, he would say "Time to pay the price, gaijin" and destroy you after teasing you a bit, maybe scaring you into thinking you could save yourself by giving him money or possessions, but killing you in the end. I'm sure it's the same way for several other types of pirates as well, but the rules restrict this because it would be abused, and I would probably get a lot of flak for it (I get a lot of flak for my RP now), so I can't roleplay like this.
Seondly I have never seen "2 million or die" EVER on this server. I haven't seen half of the things people complain about. From my time here, it's a gross exaggeration.

I see him in group with a cap i screen, and dock.
I here HALT out of no where in a populated system i ignore it.(IE HALT WHO?)
I have a lone fighter come up to me,and say 2 mil or die, i do not even turn on my com's. i just blow him to hell.(amazing how people in a fighter think they can rob you with no fire power)
I have also had Hacker/rogue/outcast try to pirate my junker Guard Cruiser???? What is up with that?
And the biggest thing that annoy's the crap out of me was seeing an outcast, pirating a junker, 1k from a junker base????? That Guy was just blown to hell be my junker guard without warning, for being an ooRP $^&*&%$
Ryoken, how exactly does being grouped with a cap break the rules? There is nothing there that says that being grouped with a cap breaks the rules if they aren't taking part in the pirating. If there was an Osiris 10k away from a pirating grouped with a Titan, is he involved in the pirating? No, he's just sitting 10k away. It could be argued that he's intimidating the target, but he's really not, he's just sitting 10k away. How exactly is a trader supposed to know about whether or not a cap is with a certain pirate? I don't think he does.
And you refuse to roleplay with pirates in fighters? You say nothing? Just shoot? That's not really right. Roleplay should be given to everyone, not just the elite Roleplayers here. I could just say "2 million or die" to all the diamond-niobium traders that I know aren't going to Roleplay back, but instead I at least give them an opportunity. That just isn't right....
Although, I agree with you on your last point. That just seems silly. If anything you should pirate him!

InRP even if you get into your escape pod safely, what's to stop me from putting a few holes into that? There are no escape pods in an escape pod.
I agree with this completely. Why should I care if you carry something or not? You're here, and I want money. Give me some money or give me your life, end of story. If I wanted your input on the situation I would've asked you for it, and that includes whether or not you're making money.
And I'm sigging that last line. That was great....

Thank you for this, I agree wholeheartedly. As I said before, in my experience, most things here are just a gross exaggeration. Thank you again, Hyung, I believe (with whatever my word is worth) that you're right...
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.
That aside,

The rest makes some sense (except the grouped with a cap ship thing). This I don't like. I can't believe that you just up and try to kill fighters that try to pirate you. No words? At least say, "Try and take it, pirate scum!" often its impossible for a pirate in a fighter to do anything but sit still when typing, and just shooting them while they're in the middle of a sentence isn't cool... Or would you rather people pirate in gunboats all the time?
It's already hard enough as it is, transports being the nearly unbeatable fortresses that they are... Even some gunboats have trouble. Sometimes I HAVE to let my prey get away or say "Two million or die." There's no TIME to say anything else. I WANT to say, "You have been Hacked! Cut your engines and prepare you penance to the Lane Hackers. For your assistance in the further corruption of the Libertonian kleptocracy, you will surrender <insert amount> credits or be molecularly disseminated!" However, when under fire from a battlecruiser that decides to show up right as I stop the guy... I have to be quick, ya know? I've had this happen, I got the guy to nearly dead, and he still wouldn't pay (I gave him a last chance!). You know what I did? Finished him off and ran from the BC with a simple maneuver to get out of range of his CD's.
In any case, you know how long it takes to type that?! o.O
Note: <insert amount> is a variable based on predetermined set of guidelines.
Well pirating is fun, I'll pick up this trade yet again, now as I seem to have more time for such afairs...
It's really hard to RP when a trader has a name like $$#5iko4 or something full of strange symbols... Hell my favorite past time was hunting oorp power traders, i'll start it up again...

What I started doing was watch the chat board, if I see a suspected trader heading toward my system I'll select them.
when I see them I type my message, and nobody else knows. it kinda freaks the traders out a bit too. It's almost as good as /l chat. *looks pleadingly at Korrd*
