I'm really rather sick of talking about most of this, except the Battlecruiser, Bomber and Cruiser issues, which are new, so I WILL issue a statement on that:
Battlecruisers do not need to be nerfed. If anything, I would increase the number of Class Ten slots from two to four. What they DO need is a significant price increase to reflect their relation to Battleship size. Battlecruisers are Battleship-sized craft with Battleship weaponry, but Cruiser agility and speed. By all rights they should be much more powerful than they are now...
Everything above the Cruiser needs a serious boost, IMHO, but the Cruiser-class most of all. More armor, anywhere from 25% to 50% more depending on the ship, bigger powerplants, and faster weaponry. They're not worth the money spent on them at the moment, they can't hold their own against two bombers as it stands.
Bombers need to be nerfed into the ground. Their turn rates need to be cut down 25% for the smaller ones (BHG, Red Catamaran) and 50% for the bigger ones (Taiidan, etc, and excluding such bricks as the Barghest). B/B needs to be cut in half universally, Supernova damage needs to be cut 30%, and strafe needs to be reduced 30% on light bombers and to almost nothing on the heavy bombers (excluding, as usual, the ones that are already brick like the Barghest). THEN it will accurately reflect how things ought to stand; We routinely have Praetorians fly into Outcast space and beat our Sabre butts, and while our piloting is awful, a bomber is NOT meant to combat a fighter, period. We should be able to fly LITERAL circles around them, and they should NOT be able to dodge a Capship at point-blank range like they do now (once the shield goes it's all over, you'll never hit them again). Force them to shoot at range; that'll give the Capships a chance to prove that they're worth the money.

' Wrote:of course gunboats are capital ships - i never understand why ppl leave them out. they are classified capital ships in ID cards and game lore. - totally lost why ppl like to "keep them easy to get" when at the same time they want to lock destroyers out.
anyway - the whole discussion is totally pointless - sort of. since its already been said officially, - that no official restriction or administration will come into effect about getting any kind of capital ship - other than a high price and a limitation of one battleship / player.
but i guess discussing it will keep the brain warmed up and ready for really important discussions.
I agree with you whole heartedly. The comment regarding gunboats was, primarily, a gentle lulz in the direction of those persons who vehemently support restricting the vessels that their fellows may fly just so long as no one touches theirs.
As to what this will accomplish, again you're right on the mark.
' Wrote:I think we're talking about different battles here, there were no gunboats or anything on the CR side during the fight I was in - I think they just had 5 vipers.
I was ticked off big time after that battle. We had like 4-5 sabres, I think three falcatas, a rogue gunboat, and even an outcast destroyer fighting on the outcast side...
Gunboat died.
Couple sabres died.
Destroyer died.
I died.
Only one viper was down by that point... that's just pathetic flying on the outcast side of things.
More work for Admins? NO, keep those license coming with the ships
Nerf caps = no
put them in guard systems? YES YES Y ES YES YESY SE YE YES YSE YS YE SY SEY ES YES YSE YSE! This way, Players will have to find a way to know where they are, fix their rep, make money. Even most of them will never find where those ships are since caps will be in guards, on "red" bases. And I doubt players will alter their reps just to check what is in "X" system, and they mostly don't know a thing about side progs
Bomber? Just nerf their firepower, it will be enough. Changing all their stats will take wayyyy too much time for Igiss and may break the balance even more.
Trade routes? Shut down the Sigma-13 -> Chugoku JH or try to mod a JH to make it dockable only by pirates (Could be possible,,,some kind of custom Jumpgate, but without the gate). For cardamine, ummm see below
Adding the best CD on NPC,,,and more than just 20 of them (30 is good) will stop any smuggler from going in O-100. If they are going in, and making their way out with a neutral rep, "Printscreen" Spam.
Since Chevalier is a battle cruiser she obviously should have the strengths and weakness of both classes. Why should something like a Battle cruiser be as strong as a regular cruiser? Why the name then? Bianca is slower than any other cruiser/destroyer she's ever fought and always being the largest (easier to hit) and she has only 10,000 more amour points than Felyse. the only over powered portion of her as I see is the powerplant. other than that it's other stats compared to to a cruiser are....average and in some cases below.
Either way if you gave the corsairs, and OCs a balltecruiser they'd be whoring them out too.
BUT then again considering the amount of active factions they wouldn't hear the end of it. Either way I think some good RP should be implemented along with their usage.
Another note I think a lot of these are bought just to kill nomads and guard NPCs *Cough* Bianca *cough*.
To king:Why would a natural phenomenon deny access to some ships? Even so that's what Jump gates are for - to control and regulate the act of system jumping.
Also bombers should not be invulnerable to cap ships either we have some kind of REAL flak gun (like a cap ship should) or make them more vulnerable to regular fire.
Also mortars and razors don't ever do enough damage to capships NPC and player alike
If a cruiser with 300000 (no armor upgrade) is hit by a mortar with 150000 should it have done 1/2 damage?
' Wrote:I disagree. I am a bomber fanatic. Dboy probably owns as many or more bombers than I, but thats really prolly about the only person to come close. That I know of.
Bombers and the Capships are not in need of nerfing, not a bit in my opinion. Its not the ships that are the problem, its the pilots. If you get owned in a BS or BC or even a cruiser by a bomber, don't cry. Say darned good job pilot! Because he deserves that praise. I have personally killed a BS alone in my Taiidan Bomber. I have also died to GB's in the same ship. Why? Because the GB pilot took the time to learn to fly his ship, and become proficient, if not downright deadly. The BS captain on the other hand, was probably one of the much feared 'noob' in a BS. No experience to speak of and OBVIOUSLY didn't make himself at home in it yet. That was over a year ago now, I bet I might not do as well in the same fight now.
The bottom line is the pilot is the factor. I've been straight OWNED by ships I should have killed EASILY, a hawk had dropped me in my bomber before, and I AM a decent bomber pilot. So how did that happen? I was MAXED as far as you can get. VIII Armor, the works, I don't think the hawk even HAD armor. Simply put, the pilot was a freak of nature and could make that Hawk push the envelope. I was so mad when I died, but I was also VERY impressed. And I said so. There is no other excuse for it.
Don't whine, LEARN TO USE THE SHIP YOU BOUGHT!!!
Edit: This is not in arguement to the above post. Just in general.
It's not just to appeal to players. Why in gods name wouldn't a capship not have the ability to counter a single bomber? especially 1100 years from the present. What? The people of FL haven't learned from all the carriers, cruisers destroyers, pre-dreadnoughts, dreadnoughts, super-dreadnoughts, and submarines sunken by bombers over the last 800 years to make some kind of defense against this (and don't say fighter escort because a capital ship as big as they are should be able to carry some kind of gun to compensate for being to slow and large to elude such an obvious tactic.
Secondly I don't know if you've noticed but a battleship has no thruster it is impossible to keep up let alone elude bomber fire. No matter how good you are the best one could do is e-kill in an asteroid field and hopefully bounce around dodging the fire This designers class ship most of all should have known "Hey this bitch ain't gonna be able to loop de loop around 40 incoming torpedoes let alone high velocity projectiles (like the SN). Finally Even if you gave the Osiris the agility of a startracker it's still a big ass hunk of metal making it easier to hit.
Instead of just nerfing every damn thing in sight every time someone whines, why don't we make weapons that are built for such threats? Bomber attacks are obvious considering the repair bill for any damages (compared to another capship) as well as survival rate (especially with the way things stand in this version) there's no need for any side to use capships against the other. Because they can easily be countered with little cost and less people being killed (seeing as bombers have only 2 or three people on board opposed to 300 people on a capship as well as the little cost of using and losing them). It's if you wanna be real it's not just capships that need fighter support in many games bombers or units equivalent to them need (fighter equivalent) fighter support.
Another note: I also realize if you aim directly to the cross the shots will go there but a center meter away they'll miss by a mile
for Battleship and Battlecruiser..i think we dont need to admin approval..we just need faction to enforce ppl to make their cap legal..like what [RM] do in these day..u dont listen to them or your cap doesnt in their "VIP list"..they kill u until u sell that ship..
