As a relatively new player (but a long time lurker / follower) of Freelancer modding communities I am glad to hear that any kind of change is coming, as I feel it is something that Freelancer/Discovery needs if it wants to step out / survive into this new decade.

Also, in case it went unnoticed, the team might want to try contacting some guys still active at the-starport.net, they seem to have some interesting new ideas, and they might be even willing to share some stuff, for example: https://the-starport.net/freelancer/foru...t_id=64651

And finally, as a new player who is still learning his role-playing ropes I would really appreciate if Discovery had more PvE stuff available, and some of the more boring stuff overhauled (e.g. mining by shooting floating rocks). As for the exploration gameplay I feel giving some power to the community to produce stuff worthy of venturing in the unknown could only help the team focus on the more important matters (for example, player placed wrecks could be encouraged by an official process/system, and not only as an unofficial event).

In any case, looking forward to the new ideas, stories and content from your new team and I wish you good luck in achieving your goals for 2020 in spite of the current chaos unfolding around the world!

Congrats for the work developed, as a long time player i think any changes are welcome by the community, on a more personal notice i am very glad that finaly players RP is taken into consideration, the previous method tends to draw the players to Military factions, leaving the regular/civilian corporations more as frozen in time for lack of development possibilities.

In any case fingers crossed and best luck for everyone in what i feel may be a new dawn in Discovery.

I remember the days when Alvin wouldn't allow Lanakov to lead the SCRA. Now Lanakov has his revenge by leading Discovery.

And they say French people don't win? Big Grin

I may not be playing right now, I may one day return soon. Even if I don't, this game, server and community is always in my heart.
This awesome post just proves there are way more than the little few of us left somehow clinging to this old bastard of a line of codes.

Late, but congrats, Lanakov. I look forward to seeing where this takes Discovery.

"You see what your knowledge tells you you're seeing. ... how, what you think the universe is, and how you react to that in everything you do, depends on what you know. And when that knowledge changes, for you, the universe changes. And that is as true for the whole of society as that is for the individual. We all are what we know, today. What we knew yesterday, was different; and so were we."
- James Burke, The Day the Universe Changed (1985)
