OK let's have a proper one now that there's enough people that may not know:

Did you know that official factions used to be able to buy systems for themselves as a base of operations? For the cost of I think 500 million credits, factions could have an entire system with whatever lore, bases and planets they wanted for their npc faction. This led to things like Corsairs having 4 or 5 of their own Omicrons. Many of these have been either deleted, or deguarded and repurposed.
