In celebration of Discovery's third anniversary, a dedicated group of players has banded together to create and present The Saga of Discovery, a series of server role-playing events bound together by original story-lines.
This project is a collaboration of many Discovery players and faction leaders from throughout Sirius.
There will be four or five unique story-lines involving the four colonies and the borderworld systems that will eventually collide into one epic struggle. The story will be told through writing, artwork, animation, and recorded video, all of it original and created by players in the Discovery community.
Each storyline will involve the factions inhabiting those regions of space unique to the four colonies and the borderworlds. Not every official Discovery faction will be able to participate directly, but there will be the opportunity for any player to join in by preparing an authentic faction affiliated character for the events. (you will not have to join a player faction, just use a character with the same affiliation as the official factions involved in each event, according to simple rules that will be laid out. Your existing independent characters may participate, but must use faction authentic weapons and ships). In addition to scheduled events, there will be ongoing server-side role-playing associated with the story-lines.
"Independent" characters will be encouraged to make story-line contributions from their own unique perspectives as they encounter the various elements of the Saga on the server. These may be posted in the form of news interviews, personal logs, or other literary styles and posted in threads that will be created for that purpose to keep all such posts grouped together. In this way, the general public will be able to participate indirectly in the ongoing story.
At its heart and soul, this Saga of Discovery is a mystery. There will be hints and clues presented in the stories and on the server. It will be up to you the players to solve the mystery, if it can be solved at all.
Specific storyline and event details will not be revealed at this time, however the project is in need of this input from the community :
1) Factions who are willing to participate in events, story development/writing for their specific faction's role
2) Authors who have exceptional role-playing knowledge and expertise in specific regions of Sirius (especially Kusari). Authors need to have special knowledge of the culture, history, politics, and language of those regions. If you have such knowledge, you should submit your credentials in the form of a description of your capabilities related to that region of Sirius, and you MUST include links to posts on this forum that display that knowledge.
Factions, and authors with proven credentials may apply for inclusion in direct server and forum collaboration on this project. Factions that directly participate in server events will be encouraged to submit portions of the storyline from the perspective of their faction's characters describing what happens before, during, and after the server events.
The first two events will take place on July 5 and July 6 and involve the Liberty and Bretonia storylines.
Event posts will be made soon that explain which official factions and which type of faction affiliated characters will be invited to participate. The first Liberty event will be the grand introduction of the Epic, and very few details will be given ahead of time. It will be a mystery to solve on the server through in-character role-playing.
O my O my...
I missed the posts (as usual when it is important)
It was exactly what I was waiting for. Great anniversary ! Great initiative ! Please use a pin to put the Saga over all the crap..erm... I meant the good stuff on the forum.
If you can just plan an event on 2-3days long it would be perfect so anyone can enjoy.
"Perfection, honesty, devotion" "Immortality is our subconscious main concern" "To change the system, you have to be inside the system and play by the rules"
The Events massive. Theres still time to get your factions entered. The Liberty part was only the first small step. In a very big idea. I took part in the first event as a rogue. and it was special. And the rules have been tweeked now to make it even more fun involved. So get you factions off thiere buts. And get them entered.
Serioulsy. This is a unique experiance and very enjoyable
Bretonia was supposed to be this weekend...but then I got sick and didn't do anything for a week...so now I dunno....I've dropped the ball on the thing twice now, considering resigning from the position...
