Now... up until a couple weeks ago, I have -never- had a problem running freelancer perfectly smooth. However, recently... the game is extremely choppy, and I havent been able to find anything that's changed on my computer within the past month.
Every time NPC's or players appear within range in the game, or on my sensor contacts, the screen 'freezes' for a split second. It also happens very frequently when i'm just flying, in trade lanes, or going through asteroid fields and nebulas.
This makes it nearly impossible to pvp, and very frustrating to do missions.
On a somewhat related note, I play world of warcraft, and that game always ran smoothly before too, but in the past few months the game freezes up my computer almost every 5-10 minutes I'm online, I cant even play anymore because of it.
I've already done virus scans, and I dont have anything running in the background while I play. I just cant figure out what's causing this computer lag.
The video card drivers may have been updated. If you experience crappy graphics problems like missing textures, gray lines, etc, it's probably the XML parser. There's a file on the FL disc, I think it's in the Redist folder, a .msi installer file that repairs it. Unless you see the lines/MAJOR texture mishaps, don't run it.
Check the drivers, make sure they're the same as when you installed FL, then post back here.

It can be the server as well I think...My screen lags up when my ping spikes. usual stuff. Also, if you can try re-seating your video card if you know how.
Don't otherwise.

I cant do anything with the video card because it's all an integrated board... everything is one big single thingy in the computer.
Well just for grins i would DL crap cleaner (google it) and run it. As for drivers you can go to Nvidea.com and DL any updated drivers available for your card. From what i saw on your specs the only thing i would recommend would be more RAM Personally i run 2GB but then i run a lot of high end graphics games. The more you accumulate on your HD the slower your comp will run so the more RAM you have the better off you are. It may also be a heat issue if you are having hot weather and have no AC. If you have not done so buy a can of air and blow all of the crud out of your fans and heatsinks. I do this once a month but then i own a cat that sheds constantly.
