4.85 and 4.84. POBs were a mistake. Maybe.

Well, in that time I flew with the KoF (King of Freight) as one of the high ranked officers.
It was a guild flying under the Universal Shipping banner.
I remember our CO named Scotty, my wingman Anvil and a pilot called Apples.
We had our own system, Minnesota, with the shipyard Duluth and Saint Paul base.
Our organization was so strong that a lot of players didn't like us at all.
Then the struggle of existing begun and a lot of our members went away.
Pity.
But in my opinion that was the best time.
Now I have returned to this game after a very long break just to try to get the same feeling again.

Are you kidding? The sieges of Kappa Defense Station were some of the best back then. You had Nephs going at it, that was a rare sight. Oorp drama gets too mixed up with inrp drama. Who cares if we have a little crisis here or there to get the blood flowing?

After adding PoBs in the game online down, you know Big Grin

Still holding on to the hope that, with a future overhaul of the game, fully revamped balance and more incentivized roleplay and immersion (this in particular), the game could be advertised a little more and manage to keep whatever new players it attracts.

Whoever says that the game's too old is delusional; there are plenty of old-ass games - even singleplayer games - that are still being played by hundreds of people today. You're telling me a cult classic like Freelancer can't hold 250 players around? I don't buy it. The game's development and management just needs to take a few steps in the right direction and for us to peek our head into the real world some more.

The times when there was actually a queue for joining the server (or rather, clicking "Refresh" and server name over and over again until you get lucky). When the skill gap wasn't as obvious, because there were all sorts of people playing the game. Only the drama hasn't changed ;-)

P.S. Mid-to-late 4.85 here. Still lurking since recently.

P.P.S. Oh, and Gallia only had its Border Worlds, and those sealed jump gates were so teasing... Oh, and no "/conn" command, so you'd see all sorts of people flying to Connecticut through New York.
