Restart Templates Rework Poll

There's been a full rework of the restart templates (new starting setup, map, reps, etc) in the works for quite some time now, and a good chunk of the work is already sorted thanks to @Squad and @Haste, and it's now at the final stage where the new templates just need to be assembled and pushed on the server. There were a few options brought up during the discussions, and figured it'd be a good opportunity to get some more opinions on this so hopefully the new templates would fit the gameplay needs of the community more.

The purpose of restarts is to make the character set up process more convenient, and allow players to create any character - conventional setup or not - in as short a time as possible.

With that in mind, feel free to drop a vote in the poll for whichever of these options you'd feel is a better fit for that purpose:
  1. Faction-based templates (Large ships sellpoint)
    - Starting Rep: Faction ID rephacks, everything else 0.0
    - Starting Ship: Faction's main VHF
    - Starting Base: The base selling faction's capline (if available) or transports (corps)
    - One per faction (except sirius-wide ones)

    Example: /restart LiNavy would place the character on Norfolk Shipyard, Navy ID/IFF, Guardian

  2. Faction-based templates (Snubs Sellpoint)
    - Starting Rep: Faction ID rephacks, everything else 0.0
    - Starting Ship: Camera ship (updated to 500ms cruise)
    - Starting Base: The base selling faction snubs (combat factions) or transports (corps)
    - One per faction (except sirius-wide ones)

    Example: /restart LiNavy would place the character on Battleship Missouri, Navy ID/IFF, Camera ship

  3. System-based templates
    - Starting Rep: Freelancer ID rephacks, everything else 0.0
    - Starting Ship: Camera ship (updated to 500ms cruise)
    - Starting Base: The base allowing easiest access to every base in the system
    - One in each system (outer edge/deadend systems with no ship sellpoint will not receive a restart)
    - Factions not accessible through normal means (Wild/Nomads/etc) will still retain their faction-specific restarts

    Example: /restart Virginia would place the character on Morgantown Border Station, Recruit ID, blank repsheet, Camera ship

All restarts will receive the same updated maps regardless of whether they end up being faction or system based templates.

Note: This poll is just to gauge community interest, so the final structure of the reworked restarts will take the results into account, but won't be solely based on this poll.

I personally voted for B, because i'm not a fan of gifting free ships to anyone.

The actual cost of the starting loadout isn't much of a concern, since the prices can be adjusted appropriately to make sure the old "restart farming" exploit doesn't pop up again.

Why don't we just have these bases close together in faction controlled areas for convenience of buying the ships rather than buzzing around the systems. Ship hubs.

Multiple dock points, unique base entry. Like baltimore

Voted for the snub sellpoint, as snubs are the kind of ships people make often and/or spontaneously, so convenient restart placement comes in handy. Caps are something you buy rarely, so the rare trek to the nearest cap sellpoint isn't really an issue.

Though also +1 to the above.

That's not my concern, it's people constantly reengaging with fresh created ships or completly destroying the balance in snubs.

Voted to Faction based template (Large sell point) since the prices can be adjusted, then motivating new chars/players is more important Wink

Voting for b but agreeing with point of making stations working like Baltimore Shipyard with multiple sellpoint dockpoints

to get some Bounty Hunter ships atm is really annoying
