Hi all, I'm currently flying a Borderworld Transport with Zoner tag and ID, if I wanted to fly a Huntress would this be bad RP? The Huntress was developed by the Order even though it's listed as a Corsair ship and it's only available from Zoner bases so there is a strong connection to the Zoners.
At first I thought I would go the long way round and get a Freelancer Tag and ID as the Huntress selling location states that the ship has been made available by the Corsairs to "rich freelancers" the only trouble with this is that holders of a freelancer ID are not allowed to fly Cruisers, a Zoner ID says Cruisers are ok to fly.
Will there be a problem with the Outcasts if they see a Zoner in a Corsair ship?
Thanks in advance.
well, you gotto ask yourself - "why does a zoner want to fly a cruiser" - usually a zoner in a warship is guarding his/her freeport. and as a result does not travel around anymore. since zoners have no real enemies, they hardly need their strong fleet to do much more than intimidate others that might have interests in the freeports.
but if you insist on travelling around - you ll face certain difficulties. - firstly, there are - as you realized, the outcasts and its allies. - zoners are balancing on an edge of a knife. - they are "just useful enough not to be attacked by anyone" - that is different to being neutral. - a zoner in a fully armed warship might shift that balance - and then bring you down.
what a zoner might do is - he might fly an unarmed cruiser if he wishes to travel around. - a huntress without ANY weapons might even be allowed to operate near outcast home territory ( though considered suspiciously, cause its no big thing to arm it ) - a fully armed cruiser however will not only cause hostilities in outcast territory, but might also cause uproar in house space.
but yes, basicly, you should be allowed to fly a huntress if you really want - but it is not advisable, unless you re dedicated to a protection of a freeport ( no, not any/all - but a specific one ) - zoners are no nomads ( literally ) they settle down at a station and consider it a home. - they trade, but still have a home in the borderworlds or the edge systems.
The intention was to fly from Freeport to Freeport providing protection to the Base and the Zoners who use it, the ship would be armed with Zoner Cruiser Turrets only, however I take your point about guarding just one Freeport and not all of them and I didn't realize about the "uproar in house space" so I'm quickly ditching this plan.
A question though, if the selling location of the Huntress says it is available to rich freelancers and the freelancer ID says no Cruisers then who else apart from the Corsairs is allowed to fly this ship?
no - the term is used in a different sense there. - while the freelancer ID describes a type of character - the ID refers to a state of being. - so a zoner is a zoner by ID, but he might be freelancing. - but in a way..... the IDs are sometimes simply outdated.
anyway, the ID limitation has priority before an ID description.
about the uproar - well, its a playerfaction law in some houses. - they do not tolerate high level warships of different factions than their own in their space ( in theory - i yet have to see it enforced in a respectful and efficient way )
Didn't understand the first part of your answer but I can see that putting a Zoner into a big aggressive ship isn't going to work. How does it work with Zoner Cap Ships? are they unwelcome in most systems too?
first part meant that one time it means the character class, another time it means a characters profession ( even if its not his ID .... that means - one time a char is a freelancer.... another time it might be a bounty hunter who is mostly freelancing .... or, crappy example... )
all zoner warships are meant to be deployed as guardships - and they are all rather unwelcome in house space. - its a bit like all BHG warships are supposed to be operating as a warfleet in the omicrons. or the outcast dreadnaught to be meant as a guard of the guard system - etc.
however, the sight of a zoner destroyer is usually not as alarming as the sight of a corsair based cruiser. - and thats mostly due to its civilian look.
If you want to fly a cruiser as a zoner... use the zoner destroyer.
The Huntress is nearly impossible to fly through asteroid fields on cruise, it's slow and easy to hit, and it doesnt really have all that much firepower.
The zoner destroyer would be more In-RP for a zoner to fly, and it's fairly manuverable for a cruiser-class ship.
