I have finally bought a GPU. It's nothing special, but it was cheap and it's still better than the rest of my hardware. The model is Geforce GT 1030 Silent Low Profile 2GB GDDR5 by Gigabyte. My motherboard is Gigabyte H61M-S2PV. My PSU provides 400 W. The OS is Windows 7 32 bit and it has UEFI. When I connect everything according to the instructions, my PC won't start. I can't start BIOS/UEFI either. The screen shows the American Megatrends logo (motherboard, I guess?) and the computer keeps beeping. Eventually the screen says "no signal" and turns off. Somehow, none of this happens when I try the GPU on Pepe's computer and it starts normally. When I remove the GPU, my PC runs normally. What's wrong?

If it's beeping, this might tell you what the problem is.

What does the number of beeps mean? Should there be an interval of beeps, then pause, then an interval again, or is it the number of beeps until automatic shutdown?

the computer tells you the error with beeps
but beep standards are different to different motherboard manufacturers.
you need to google your motherboard company (or perhaps bios model I think) beep guide.

beeps mean encoded certain specific error, the length of beeps encodes which one
example: LOOONG BEEP, SHOOOORT BEEEP, LOOOONG BEEEP mean one error
LOONG BEEP, LOOONG BEEP, LOOONG BEEP mean another type of error described in the guide.

here a possible guide for Gigabyte motherboards beeps

I can't find the beep "dictionary" for my specific motherboard, but what I'm getting is one short beep that keeps repeating with medium intervals of silence in between. I get that every time I start the computer, but it only beeps once. Now it keeps beeping and the computer won't start until I turn it off, remove the GPU and start again.

if it beeps only once, then it is a manual check saying that's it is all right

if it beeps without stopping:
Continuous short beep :Power supply unit failed

But just to be sure better to check if you have AWARD BIOS or AMI BIOS in order to be sure which beeps you get.
My words above are truthful for AWARD BIOS

If you have several RAM sticks, then remove one and start the PC
If it is only one, then remove it and bring another working one, and try it
If the PC worked, then the problem was the incompatibility of your RAM sticks

It's a common error and happens a lot

As another common error, remove your current BIOS CR2032 round battery. When depleted it causes power issues. If it will help, don't forget to buy a new one.

@darkwind I have AMI BIOS.

@Xenon I only have one RAM and can't even use that one to its full extent due to 32 bit OS Big Grin Do you know what I can do in this case? Buy a new RAM?

Then count beeps. Number of beeps, from one to eleven could be meaning something
