Battle Above Erie: Zoners Attack!

Planet Erie, Pennsylvania - A resounding clash shattered the already fragile peace that had lingered for years in the Pennsylvania system since its occupation. Emerging from a prolonged period of inactivity in space with rumors of ground activity, the Zoner rebels known as "Pennsylvania Liberation Front" orchestrated a meticulously planned lightning raid. The raid appeared to have the goal of causing as much destruction as possible, as only guarding spacecraft were targeted. Their audacious assault sent shockwaves throughout the system, leaving a trail of debris in its wake. In a display of unprecedented bravery or perhaps desperation, the Zoner rebels launched a surprise attack on Erie's orbit, targeting and annihilating several of Liberty's prized Battlecruisers. This unexpected victory underscored the rebels' determination, catching even the seasoned Liberty Navy officials off guard. The efficiency and precision exhibited by the rebels, once deemed dormant - or even, defeated - raised alarming questions about the security measures in place within the star system. One of the many witnesses, Jane Doe, a station radar operator, reported to Libertad!: "It was so quick. In the blink of an eye, several large ships appeared in my screen. As usual, I started by-the-book hail protocols... but then... rockets, explosions. Several calls for help. I heard screams in the intercom. It was pure chaos...". The denizens of the Pennsylvania system found themselves thrusted into a state of disbelief and fear, but despite all the destruction, some claimed to feel stronger hope for an Erie without oppression and corruption. The sudden upheaval prompted introspection, not only among the ordinary citizens but also within the ranks of Liberty's military hierarchy. The future of the system now hangs in a precarious balance, with some saying tensions could increase to pre-Erie occupation levels. There is no official report about casualties for either side.
