I still feel that these laws are simply too complex for a faction like Corsairs. Laws should be universal for all factions and indies, reflecting their own unique stances and philosophies. I think you should really consider laws like Outcasts have, which narrow in-space guidelines in a few lines.

You're not a House - you're free men and women, who can do whatever they want. If you want to make it unique, I would recommend a trial-by-combat in titans, a man vs man, as one of the options how to settle the conflict of interests in person.

Then you don't seem to understand Corsair ID and its limitations, rules of the server supersede any RP.

So you are fine with metagaming, got it.

They very much can. They have all sorts of tools at their disposal to navigate a problem ranging from negotiating, killing us, paying someone else, etc.

this thread made me realize how absolutely fucked the economy loop is, no matter how much I bother to explain that players making corsair alts to mine the stuff they need in a complete bypass isn't cool. I'll probably make another thread on this if I care, as this thread is about the laws themselves.

they're already extremely condensed in relation to the previous version. they're also not just laws, but they also add a lot of RP flavor. If they were pure laws, yes, they'd be much more compact.

Considering that Corsair ID can enforce laws, laws should be without roleplay fluff. It should be bare minimum so that anyone reading would have easy time doing so. On the other hand, unlawfuls should not be able to have laws and enforce them. They can shoot non allied ships and extort all non allied transports. And you can force other Corsair IDed players to do noncanon RP which is pretty much being pirate. And for that you don't need laws.

Why should I care about your PoB if I can make it without PoB?

Question, why making indie corsairs to mine relics is considered metagaming, while making indie mollys to mine gold ore isn't? Or indie anything to mine anything?

That has never been the case. The rules are guidelines, and with RP justification anything has always been possible. There have been multiple cases of staff members confirming this, including Erremnart in this very thread with the rather interesting suggestion of trial by combat i.e. engaging the same ID.

No, I disagree with trying to monopolise a commodity and then blaming other people for not being able to do so. No individual, faction or other entity has any entitlement to any monopoly on any commodity in the game, not even Ageira with trade lane parts imo since people seem to forget universal shipping in-lore are supposed to haul their commodities and also with EFL just generally now existing. DTR are also not all corsairs and should not act as if other corsairs mining relics are undermining the entire Corsair economy. That is pixel power, plain and simple. Metagaming is a symptom of the cause, it is not the root issue.

My point is that DTR have not given any such interactions in good faith ingame in my experience, more experience than I'd particularly care to admit, and thus I do not expect them to do so. I believe many other people feel the same, and thus, they don't bother returning the favour. I am happy to be proven wrong. But I haven't been yet. Actions really do speak louder than words.

The assumption is that the people shadowmining XRs are using Corsair ID to protect themselves from DTR.

As a rule of the thumb: Player factions do not exist in the canon game environment.

This means that specific factions like DTR have no right creating laws which benefit their specific faction. In anything, laws should apply to all Corsairs equally.

Also, it is funny how DTR complains about indies mining relics. Why wouldn't they? If their ID allows them, let them. I still remember DTR using their Zoner alts to supply their POBs, sometimes even using outcast bases to do it, so this move against indies is hypocritical at best, and malicious at worst.

Seriously, it is not metagaming when you fly an indie ID to mine relics for whatever reason. It is, however, powergaming, if you seek to prevent them as the OF of the same faction.
