Uhm, well...

I honestly do not care much about the Homerunner, and, uhm, I already have access to it, too! It is just not the same without you, and, well, it does not give me the same feeling of security I have on the Kay!

Well, uhm, anyway, I, uhm, currently forced to stay in bed. I got a cold, and, uhm, it really wrecked me. Sneezing, coughing, fever, sore muscles, all that. Kind of weird, huh. Modern medicine can cure pretty much any sicknesses, but the common cold is still a thing. I guess it is better for you if you stay away until I am back on my feet. I'm sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner - I've been doing a fair bit of introspection lately, wondering on how I should carry on, if at all. But I can start with going over a brief summary of it.

The director of Rheinland's secret services tried to shoot me down while under Caliban's orders, she gave me a nasty burn by setting my fuel injector coils on fire, so bad I'm still hobbling around with braces around my legs. This means I will not be allowed in Rheinland ever again. Her grudge is solely against me and me alone, apparently because I am a "tool of destruction". Whatever that means.

Ending in a clinic once again gave me enough time to think about things. And... I think the truth is, this sorry state of affairs of people touting their ideals and the innocent being crushed under them is never going to end. Everyone does what they think is right, and they never stop to wonder if their means are right or not. Hell, me included. I've caused you an endless amount of pain just because I brought myself into harm's way to do Raven's bidding. Something no amount of apologies will ever help me find forgiveness in your eyes.

I will not let Julie be turned into a tool, I will not play in anyone's hands. If they want a Key, they'll have to subvert Caliban because I'm done being disrespected, and I am through with being betrayed by people I once trusted.

[He sighed.] On... a lighter note, I'm thinking of trying out a small-time side hustle to get my mind off things and to tuck away all my metaphorical skeletons in the metaphorical closet. Idle hands are the devil's playthings, or so they say. I'll be needing the Homerunner to make it happen, though. I'm thinking of picking up a career as a courier - sure, merch runners ain't exactly few and far between these days, but it's humble enough to not get their attention. Plus, I've been a spacer for a long while at this point! I know a few routes that can help me cut a few corners here n' there. Though, uh, I can't say I know exactly where to draw the line on the kinda stuff I'm gonna be haulin'... I mean, I got morals too, y'know?

Hey.

Uhm, I myself am feeling better now. I am still not sure whether it was really just a nasty cold or actually something, you know, more severe. But I guess the Cryer droid knows better. I had a check up earlier today with Dr. Turner and it seems like everything is going back to normal again.

I hope your recovery is going well, too. Cannot wait for you to return home, really. Madeleine is mother henning me the entire time, and despite trying her best to stay away from me, she is now sneezing all day. And angry at me. Angry-ish.

There are a few new faces downstairs, too, but they seem nice. One of them has a band and asked me to join them when he heard me play on the violin. Did not expect that anyone genuinely likes it. Still need a lot more training!

Oh, and Mika managed to tear a curtain apart downstairs. Looked very funny, she was chasing a fly, jumped at the curtain and it just gave in. Madeleine then went to the vet to declaw her.
