^Y^.GSV-Pankhurst has been sanctioned for:

Quote:2.2 - If you are killed or dock during a hostile player encounter, you must not re-enter the system or attack anyone involved in the encounter for 1 hour. Trade Ships docking during a hostile player encounter are not considered to have been "killed".

Consequences:

The offending ship has been deleted.
During the Aland siege, the ship was destroyed - returned around half an hour later, and continued to attack the players that killed it. Consideration was given to the heightened stakes of the base siege involved, as well as that the player behind the Pankhurst is a long time veteran and should have known better.

If you require evidence, you may request such via PM from a Staff member. Only the accused or an official faction leader of the accused person's faction may request such. Once you have the evidence, and if you wish to dispute it, you may post in the Sanction Thread below. Do not continue PM'ing a staff member, as that will result in your Appeal being denied. If you PM a staff or post in the sanction thread and you are not directly involved, you are consenting to be subjected to the reprisal of my choice which may involve in game repercussions up to a ban. Sanctionee here, I did a fucky wucky and thought being able to leave the system you died in was a rule and not just a common courtesy people did. The re-engagement was also initiated in a different system and by the other party, not me. For these reasons I'd like to appeal for a more lenient sanction.

After discussion and another vote, it was concluded that the sanction will stand as is.

The main argument posed against the sanctioning was that firing upon ships of the defending side after being killed in a different system did not count as re-engagement due to self defense - and that, if true, a sanction is not warranted or is grounds for reducing penalties.

By consensus, the argument was refuted by the following:
1) Player was killed by siege defenders during a pre-arranged base siege, with full understanding on all sides.
2) it is the PVP dead player's obligation to avoid combat with the players that have killed them - besieging the base that was being defended was highly questionable and possibly sanctionable as it is a deliberate action that forces interaction with the defenders, not leaving at the first sign of the defenders' return but instead remaining in a position to require interaction with the defenders is also sanctionable - these two scenarios in which a PVP dead player forces interaction with the players that killed them is the main reason why this incident was considered definitive reengagement.
3) The context that this occurred during a POB siege, and by a veteran player that should have known better factored into the severity of the penalty. We do not want to normalize poor behavior when it comes to large fights to begin with, but even more so when the stakes are higher due to the potential for the loss of a base is concerned.
