It had all the red flags: insanely short route, no danger, extremely high CSU, no event of any sort, no logical or in roleplay explanation.

using the Harrisburg message is not an argument as that message has been around for years.

I think the admin team is being very, very, very lenient here.

I saw what happened even though i never participated. It was definitely not the fault of the people involved, there was an element of danger when you passed through an event and got assaulted by a ton of Rogue ships. I think it's appropriate for the admins to take the money back but taking ships or PoBs is uncalled for, the devs are at least as much to blame as the players involved. take the money, give the ships back.

That. A bit more humility from the Devs after they fucked up (and after they starved the players for cash events for years) would do better.
PS: The old Admins before the takeover at least set up some trading events regularly, sometimes even holiday special trades (I remember some nice merry-go-round between all capital planets) AND they patrolled the game more often in their admin ships so something like that probably wouldn't have happened back then in the first place.

Event? We're not talking about the low difficulty encounter for new players are we?

The absolute delusion of some people in this thread is actually baffeling.

"Ah yes! Just because the bank left the money transporter open and unguarded, I am not a criminal for taking all the money from it! IN FACT, the guards should feel humility and shame for making me want to take it!"

Truly an occassion of the greatest mental gymnastics I've ever witnessed.

That is NOT the vibe here. Yes, any bank or security manager would be fired after such an oversight, so shame is definitely in order. And nobody excuses the exploiting players, but the benefit of the doubt is given in court. Innocent until proven guilty. And yes, the money should be given back. But after you fuck up, you ask more nicely.

Why'd they need to ask you nicely? This is already all the nicety that anyone having done this exploit should get: "Don't make our lives difficult and we won't ruin yours."
The matter of the fact is, people used an exploit, in the full knowledge that it was. Some people even went so far as to try to obfuscate the fact that it was an exploit through pretending it was an event. And now blame the team of people that even allow us all to play the game for it. Humans tend to be fallible beings. The difference is the intentions behind the mistake. One was a genuine mistake. (This might apply to some people doing the exploit as well but definitely NOT the majority.) Or intentional malice. Which I'd say is the case for everyone who used the exploit. One lesson from life, the easiest way most often is not the right way.

And also, imagine the outcry if they hadn't asked and just looked into the people doing that exploit without offering the opportunity for this. This is them already asking nicely, but some people don't seem to understand that.

I wouldn't be surprsied if people deliberately spread the misinformation that it was an event to obscure the fact that it was an exploit.

"the devs fucked up, lets take advantage of that" is the very definition of abusing an exploit.

There is a little difference between a dev - someone who tries to provide more fun for the players - unintentionally causing an exploit, and a player who notices an exploit and intentionally abuses it, and then points fingers at other people and make demands.

We happily admit any our mistakes and try to rectify them. This very thread is an attempt at that. It is up to the people who abused the exploit to rectify their mistake now. That's all that needs to be said. If this doesn't align with your moral compass, feel free to keep complaining, but it won't change the facts and the outcome. There is no room for bargaining with cheaters.
