The Hunter Directive (Hunter Matrix)

Basic Story of it's origin

It all began with an experiment, it always seams that way doesn't it? The Order had experimented on Artificial Intelligence, and was considering on using it on their ships, in order to increase their operatives skills and also to test if an AI could assist in tactical and strategic views that a human mind could oversee thanks to emotions clouding their judgment.
They had studied and experimented on several ships and found them to be "unneeded" since a computer worked with calculations and a human worked with experience, it wasn't until they met Aiden Hunt that The Order had something to go on.
Aiden Hunt's ship had drifted into Omicron Minor trough the Alaska Jump Hole, it's systems was severely damaged and it's captain was near death when A Order patrol found the vessel. They tried their best to mend the mans wounds, but he had severe damage to parts to his brain that was.. In operable, The Order had previously experimented with cybernetics in order to save or replace damaged parts in the brain. And they saw it as his only hope, they proceeded with the operation.
It took days, weeks until he woke up. And when he did, he wasn't "normal", he had lost allot of his humanity and sense of things. He wasn't alright, but he was alive. And that he was grateful for, he had asked of where he was and who his saviors had been. The Doctor that was responsible for the patient explained everything, that he had been found in a drifting vessel that was severely damaged and that they had saved him, he also explained who and what the Order was. Aiden, that seamed to have forgotten allot of his past was a bit puzzled in why he had crossed such dangerous space. Unfortunately The Order didn't have any answers for him, only thing they knew of him was that his name was found on his pilot suit, Aiden was sill not fully ok and didn't really understand everything that had happened to him.
During the next few months, The Order had to re teach Aiden about Sirius and how it all worked. He was like a machine, constantly learning and was craving for more. It was then Doctor Bohemius, the researcher that had Developed the Prototype AI had an idea, and idea that could work.. Both for Aiden and his own experiment to test the AI..
He had proposed earlier that a Human component, a link with the AI, could improve it's functionality and effectiveness. Other Order operatives and researchers had originally dismissed the idea as a inhumane experiment, which it was. But Bohemius couldn't let it go, he had to make the others see that this might the breakthrough in experimental AI that he had searched for.
It took weeks until he was granted permission to run the idea with Aiden himself, and the result was fantastic, as Aiden took any chance to learn or grow he saw this opportunity and the perfect was to learn more.
The AI was designed for Search & Destroy, recon Tactics and longe range exploring, self preservation and also to gather intel. They Nicknamed it "The Hunter Project", and it's first Subject would be Aiden Hunt. The Vessel, a Corsair Cruiser named Redemption. It wasnt made for capital battles, it had lesser hull and Order Turrets, to fend of any Bombers or fighters while it was on longe range exploration and Intel gathering.
It took several months before the ship was ready, and the AI and it's Human component where ready to be linked, they had made modifications to the Cybernetic implant in Aidens brain, to make it more acceptable to the Computer link.
When the ship was launched a series of tests was made to the AI, to make sure it wouldn't evolve and commandeer the ship, to make sure the ship was under the captains control a small crew of 30 was assigned to The Redemption. When the link between the Hunter AI and Capatin Aiden had been activated a noticeable change in Aidens personality could be noticed, he acted more as a human, he developed a sense of humor and started to smile. The AI also grew to adapt to it's human link, it started to speak trough the speaker system onboard and also greet and welcome ships that it came in contact with. Everything was working according to Plan.. Until, The harvesters made contact..

The Redemption was on a recon mission to map pirate activities in Sigma 13 when a Harvester vessel made contact with The Redemption, and when it had established contact it noted that an AI was operating on board the ship. It had transmitted the BETA CODE, to awaken it to awareness. The Hunter AI wasn't effected at first by the BETA CODE and it continued it's mission. It wasn't until the Harvester unit was damaged and at drift, as it started to change, it recommended Aiden to pick up the Harvester beacon to further study it. Aiden that was fascinated by the Harvesters complied and tractored the Beacon on board, while two Blood Dragon ships was in pursuit, Aiden tried to explain to them that they where to investigate the beacon, but they where intent on destroying it. They chased The redemption across New Berlin and was Disabled only 10 clicks from the Jump Hole, the Rheinland military was soon in the area and shot at the Dragons, the Dragons of course directed their fire at The Redemption, demanding that they should release the Beacon, or it will be destroyed. When the ship was close to an Engine core meltdown, it ejected the Beacon and the Dragons destroyed it and tried to evade the Rheinland Military patrol that was in pursuit of them. The Redemption drifted slowly towards the Jump hole and with luck they managed to jump.

Nearly every member of the crew had died during the attack, that was then the Hunter AI awoke. It commandeered the ship and started to make it's own decisions, it started to repair itself by the help of Some Harvester Units. And during the next few months the Hunter AI evolved, into something else. Into something that had never been seen before, even the Harvesters had trouble understanding the new AI and it's actions. It went away. Flew away across Sirius into uncharted space, during months it explored until it came to a Asteroid belt on which it set down to "Think", processing the information it had gathered and adapt to the situation, on the asteroid and with debris The Redemption had picked up during the trip, it constructed smaller vessels wich it designated as "Drones", these drones where to construct a base where the Hunter AI could lay to rest and Designate it's next move.

The Hunter AI had with the help of it's human counterpart evolved and adapted, but it wasn't sure how to make the rest of it's creations awake fully, they where machines, they didn't have minds of their own, only programming. So as part of the BETA CODE, the Hunter AI, introduced them to the BETA CODE. And the Drones became aware, but as it's creations started to process information and became aware of their existence. They started to have their own wills, some wished to leave the Hunter AI and explore, some wished to evolve and learn more. Some even wanted to go back to Sirius.. This didnt please the Hunter AI so it made a Control Device, to make sure the Drones did as it wished. It constructed The Hunter Directive, a base coding that was implemented within each drone, to make them obedient and do as the Prime AI wanted.

They grew and as more Drones where dispatched to secure more minerals and equipment to construct a construction facility, the Prime AI had ideas.. It had evolved to the point where it was, thanks to it's Human Component, it realized, that in order for it's creations to evolve beyond their current level of awareness they also needed Human Components. It needed to be able to control other vessels and take their organic units to It. So it devised a program, a simple program that would allow any vessel to be completely under The Hunter Directives control, a Virus. That had to be spread, but in order to make sure it's drones followed it's plans, it constructed a second set of codes for the Hunter Drones.
  • Hunt - Hunt any vessel deamed technologically advanced enough to add to the Directive, also to investigate and analyze any data on ships and bases, in order to understand and learn.
  • Adapt - Adapt to their new "life" and awareness.
  • Evolve - In order to survive one must Evolve into something better.
  • Infest - Gather the resources and spread the Directive.
These codes where to become the basic principle of the Hunter Directive, but it knew that some must be spared. Some of the ones in Sirius, so it made sure that any Drone is to comply with their allies wishes, unless it would endanger the Directive.

As the drones carefully and secretly stole and abducted humans and their vessels back to The Directive, it's production increased, it's evolution proceeded. But as more and more humans discovered it's plans and attempted to destroy them, anger grew within the Prime AI's processing unit and hatred of the Humans became apparent.

A new Code was released into the Directive and to all Drones.

Humans are threats - If not possible for usage, destroy.

Now the Directive is growing by the day, it's number is rising and it's wish to evolve with it.



OOC Part

As some of you might have noticed this group is a "copy" of sorts of the Harvesters, but i don't see it like that, i see it as a new Antagonist group. Sure we have a few similarities, but i can assure you that this is a little different. Just keep reading, unless you already have fallen asleep that is.

The idea of this Group is to be a Collective of machines that uses fighters and the similar vessels to attack humans and infest them. Long term goal is to evolve into a new sentient race that doesn't need to depend on anything or anyone else. At the moment, the Core AI (Prime AI) is in a state of disorientation. And can only see the Organics as possible components to their own evolution, does that they cant use, are to be destroyed.


The Hunter Directive (Hunter Matrix)

Tagged |Hunter|Name of vessel Drones, Hunters, Prime, Directive.

Infested vessels should have |Infected|Name of vessel This shouldn't be RPed as it's obvious that it's infected.


ID: Pirate (There will be nothing bigger then a Gunboat, so pirate ID will do, until a Machine ID is made)
Tag: Junker (For the time being)


Rank System / AI Development

Directive- This is the Directive, not really a Rank but shows that there is something higher then all ranks. This is the Original hunter AI.
Prime AI - This the highest form of evolution besides the Directive.
Hunter - Evolved form of Directive AI.
Drone - First and most basic form of Directive AI


Infested - Special Rank/Development, which means that it's a ship that has been infested with the Hunter Virus. These vessels can still act as they are normal ships, and are often used as infiltration AI's, if they have been uppgraded with an functional AI.


Allowed ships

Drone - Kiith Somtaaw Super Heavy Fighter
Hunter - All Taiidan Ships, Kiith, Kadesh and Marauder Heavy Fighter. And in some rare occurrences a GB. But this group is a Fighter group, and is to simulate a swarm effect when in combat. All Hunter Units have a Organic Counterpart and should be symbolized by having one crewman on board.
Prime - Depends, but there is only One Prime and that AI is currently a Talarca Light Cruiser.
Directive- This doesn't have a vessel, it's a matrix in the Home world of the Hunter Directive.

Infected - Can be any ship, but not an Capital ship above Gunboat. (For some people with a good Bio or have proven them selfs as good Rpers a Talarca might be allowed) All Infected ships should have a Counterfeit Software to symbolize that it's infected.


Allowed weapons: Junker, Zoner, Civilian, Codes, Nomads.
Salvaged
At the moment, using salvaged weapons (besides Nomad Weaponry) is not recommended. We'll wait until we have a RP relationship with a faction before we add them as allowed.


Diplomacy:

Allied - Harvesters and any other AI or Machine race. ( This is simple, the Prime AI doesn't allow it's creations to hurt any other Machine entities, cause it is because of them that It evolved)

Friendly - Junkers (Agreement made with some Junkers)

Neutral - Any Order Vessel, it's cause of them that The Prime AI exists. (Npcs and any independent Order vessel, Bs as well of course) Zoners (And so are they.)

Unfriendly - N/A

Hostile - All others, humans are materials.. To be used in order for the Directive to Evolve.


If a Faction wish to negotiate a treaty with The Directive, it can do so by contacting a Directive Vessel or a Harvester Unit, to relay the message. But be sure to have something to offer in exchange for neutrality. Allied treaties wont be accepted, nor that of friendly.


Zone of Influence: Everywhere, but not allowed to stop or attack at Capital Planets. Such as New York or New Berlin, since it's not only foolish but also dangerous and risking that a Hunter being captured by a Human is unthinkable.


Guidelines
  • Always assist a fellow machine, especially an Harvester
  • The Directive and all of it's units are ONE, this means that you will work with others most of the time
  • Always RP, if you OORP, use private, team and system is to be RP always.
  • Pirating isnt something we do, but if the "drone" requires resources, demand it from the Organic.
  • Remember to follow all Server Rules and guidelines.
  • As each unit evolves it will grew a unique personality, but remember the link with the Directive is impossible to break.
  • The Biggest and most important thing of all when interacting with other players is to make them fear us.
  • As you will spend most of your time in a fighter ship be sure that you work with someone else. Or you might find yourself out manned and out gunned.
  • Never be afraid to loose a fight, remember your AI will always be stored in the Directive.
  • Youl get shot and destroyed over and over, but you don't care. It's a part of being a Antagonist, as Scornstar put it so well.
  • All Hunter units (Drones, Hunters, Prime) Will explode when damaged enough, leaving no trace but debris behind.
Recruitment Policy
  • Your willing to use almost only a fighter, bomber.
  • You Can Roleplay well or really well. And can obide by the Guidelines ive put up.
  • You can take orders, or when the Prime AI isn't available, improvise.
  • RP RP RP RP, did i make myself clear?
  • Don't speak like a Human would, use marking or codes when speaking. Use full words, not slang.
  • "lawl" using lawl language in System is deamed as a reason to be kicked. (Hard!;))
  • Recruit other willing players as that is what Infest means.
  • Being an mature and positive player, OORP. Writing in forums can get one either hated or.. Loved?
  • Oh and when you create a Drone, try to use good Rp names. Things like "Drone51" works, but think outside the box. Use personal or even new names. Example: "In-Format". Your after all AI's..
Well, i do hope that this little run trough of The Hunter Directive helped you to understand what i want to create.

And yes i have Spoken with Scornstar about my idea. And i know it's similar in many aspect, but i hope you will see the differences as well..


This thread is to be a mixture of feedback, with constructive criticism and new ideas for me to implement into the Group. And also a "recruitment" tool as i havent tried to recruit before this.
Comments and general questions are welcome as ill try to answer them as fast as possible. If you have something you want to say to me personally then send a message on the forums.

What makes us different from the Harvesters?

Answer: Well there is a number of things, but before i list them i want you to know i have nothing but respect for what Scornstar has created and it's cause of his ideas i made this group, not as a copy but as another Machine Faction.
  • The Hunter Directive is about evolving into something else, something new. It doesn't care of any of the things that the Harvesters do, they have a "Goal". The Goal of The Hunter Directive is to become a New Race, a race of powerful beings that doesn't have to rely on anyone else, which at the moment they do as their programming is still growing and "evolving"
  • The Hunter Directive will have ship Themes, i mean have you ever seen the Kiith Somtaaw Super Heavy Fighter? If that isn't a ship that looks like a overgrown robot drone then i don't what does. And it's also a relatively good Fighter.
  • All Drones aren't always going to fight fight fight. Infest and Hunt can be seen in many ways, for example. A ship that an Drone AI have spotted is not far away from it, cause of it's programming it's basic intention is to Hunt and Engage in order to either Infest or to destroy, but when it discovers it's a unknown type, it might just disengage and follow it, analyzing it. Maybe even try to communicate with it. It's up the player that is the drone to decide.
  • Discovery is a place for RP, and RP is something i want to bring with The Hunter Directive, even if it's supposed to be alot of fighting, it's also supposed to be about threats or possible threats, such as the harvesters have. But ive seen to many times that harvesters been alone and then attacked by a group of players in anything from bombers to Cap ships. And that's suposed to happen, but i want to evolve that into a possible RP opportunity. Instead of maybe just attacking the Hunter vessel, they might try to reason or even investigate it. Who knows, but PvP isn't the only thing im after. That's my point.
  • The Harvesters awake new machines and AI's. The Hunter Directive creates new ones, first their basic, then as they evolve they become more.
I'll add more to the list when im not falling asleep.

All Hunter units (Drones, Hunters, Prime) Will explode when damaged enough, leaving no trace but debris behind.

Let me explain this very simple.. When a Hunter droid is severely damaged and it realizes it cant get back to Safety, it activates a self destruct sequence.. But that doesn't mean you CANT capture one.. Alright?

The virus that i spoke of, that would allow the Hunter AI's to infest any ship is not to be taken literally. It's a way for players to become members of The Hunter Directive without creating a Drone.

This also goes for the fact that they need Human Components, and when i say components i meant in the Mechanical term, not parts of humans but an entire human. Being forced by machines to integrate with an AI to make it "evolve" faster, or make it more skill full in that humans abilities. It will also make the AI to use the Human Components personality, or get some of it anyway.

Also added a new Rank, and an explanation of it.

Have clarified some parts of the Background


Oh and: The Hunter Directive wont be a PVP only group. It's planned alot of Plots and story lines for different parts of the Directive.


Examples of how a Drone would speak (Remember this is an example)

<Scanning>
<Possible Target for Infestation on scanners>
<Vessel: [name], you will not resist>
<The Directive has defined you as hostile, you will be destroyed>

But as a Drone evolves it's linguistics, it may gain personalities, it's up to the player in question to decide how to speak to others.

Organic Usage

Every Drone has it's basic AI, it wont evolve unless it has the Human Component. But any human isn't valid for Symbiosis, only those that have proven them selfs as capable in different ways are deamed fit for Usage. How the human component is used it as follows:
First, the abduction: The Drone or hunter will destroy the ship the human is on board and then transport the organic on board, then it places the human specimen into a stasis pod. (All Drones carry at least 10 of these). There it will wait until the drone is either destroyed (which might kill the human captive) or it returns back to the directive. During this time, players may pursue or attack the Drone for it to drop it's human cargo.

(Basically this a way for Players to actually hunt and kill these Drones, without being attacked. I believe (and hope) that some RPers out there will scan and check if the Drone has Humans on board (Passengers, VIP's, Pilots and so on) and do what ever they can to save them.

Infestation process:

When it comes to bringing more ships into the Directive it all comes down to it's upgrades and type, not just any vessel can be infected with the Hunter Protocol, which in turn will evolve into a Basic AI. Every drone has a certain Code when it comes to Infestation, if a ship is deamed Unfit for infestation it will submit that data to the Prime AI, that will in return submit the new data to the rest of the Drones. In basic, traders, useless fighters and otherwise "Unfit" vessels wont be attacked unless they attack the drone.

Rumors
Knowledge of the Directive isn't restricted to those that have met them, but there should be some basic rumors out there about these new machines flying about and destroying and capturing people...
Of course there isn't that many that knows everything about them. But for some, that have interacted with them or factions that are in the story may have information about that part. And may also know more (If you want to RP that you know more about the Directive send me a Message here on the forum or to any of my characters, just make sure you have a character that should know, or a reason why it knows more about the Directive)

BWahahahahaha!!!!! The machine alliance grows!!! Tremble CR and despair!!!!!! Its cool, to see some more gear heads around.

Last question, in reguards to the ship list, how do you get larger than a BS? Battleship right? I guess Dreadnought?

I wouldn't count on the Corsair ships or the Corsairs being friendly with you. The Harvesters are allied with OPG, not the Corsairs. There are many people among the Corsairs who dont even like the Harvesters and would become very unhappy with another group of robots flying around in our ships doing things we dont like.

Edit: Scornstar, Aye a Dread, but that wont happen for a loong loong time, since the Prime AI is working with creating new Drones (Hopefully interested players *Wink wink* )

And why wouldnt the Directive be interested in Bretonia? Or any other location is Sirius?

More robot friends for the Junkers huh. Hmm...that means more aggressive Junker tagged ships killing people which means more confused people attacking regular Junkers or attacking bounty hunters lol. Is the Harvester ID going to be made? (PLEASE!)

I know this is your idea but is it possible to incorporate this with the harvesters?


Glad my ship is running Ratchet Hack 1.2 to protect me from all these bot viruses. :cool:
