I suspect doing a cap-focused event in a nebula is not a particularly good idea. I'd suggest Gunboats and below for anything like this.

All jokes aside, the skill expression of (larger) caps is positional play and blindfiring, both of which don't work when everything is simplified to shooting prims and flaks at snubs, while frantically scrolling through the target list to figure out what ship is which as you can't visually identify anything. And then anything smaller than a Cruiser is invincible anyways because hitrates are balanced around blindfire.

TL;DR do gunboats and snubs, more gooder.

I think the jumphole also trolled us a little bit but I'm not entirely sure.

For the record guys Haste is raging inRP from the PoV of his Tribunus captain stuck in the Crow nebula. This is how Rheinland felt in the 80 years war.

As you guys saw, the corsair side got decimated despite number parity (~28 non-sairs vs ~27 sairs at the start) as well as the supposed corsair skill stacking on the caps. Next time, I hope I will be more trusted with event balance. I wanted to add even more corsair slots, but I was afraid that the other sides wouldn't sign-up because they would perceive the event as a stomp.

To be clear, while it's always possible that this was yet another snowball, I think people were forgetting two factors when complaining about the sides:
1. Any side which must go back and forth through jump holes will be split. The new patch will alleviate some of this with 4 slots per hole, but it will still remain.
2. Any side which must defend multiple objectives in a nebula is hard-pressed, because they must keep them in range, but also not get out of position during the fight. This is essentially impossible.

In summary, corsairs were significantly disadvantaged in this event mechanically, which is why their side had more people and was slightly heavier. I hoped even more would log, but there's only so much I can do in terms of organizing.

In any case, I hope everyone had fun, and stay tuned for the outcome write-up, as well as the rewards!

The event was okay, but instead i should add another rule for this kind of events to forbit camping in the holes or bases so at least can get a bubble of "protection" for it, for example isn't the same you move while engaged and jump by the hole, than they await you coming so you have no way to get a possibility of docking, as they will stay at least range, and since this event cannot use cruise, then makes impossible, by the time any transport get in range of even see the hole, is exterminated by the campers ...

The rule should say too:

"Forbidden to camp the holes, but you can go and find them easily"

but this could be more fun if instead you make players to "find a way" to reach from petra to lagos, so while their capitals should be focused on bigger ducks, the snubs must create and diverge to any exit to "catch" any transport taking off route to evacuation, sadly, again, S15 to S13 is only the hole or get to Rheinland space, with no other way to jump out, (like for example take a route instead of going directly to 13, get from s15 to s17 then jump to s13 ... but nope, S15 is a one entry-one exit system... not much to get a place to do an evacuation strategy...

Still fun till the moment they keep camping the holes on both sides, so no one can enter, no one can exit.
