Lights, sounds, patterns of perception are taken in and understood from rudimentary tools of eyes, ears and electro-chemical responses. From there, life adapts and adjusts to continue. But what if, instead of merely adapting, the mind instead reaches beyond becoming a Mage? What if the Mage reaches to seek beyond the light, the sound, the shadows and silences in between? Then, with a new perception, the tools are changed, granting insight even further beyond? A new sense of reality, a new possibility, a new potential to explore is discovered, the Arcane.

Many reach to understand, limiting themselves to the rules of the coldly deliberate. Erase the depth and rely only on the tool, the function and not the potential. Seek beyond the tool. Look past the conscription of matter and find the essence of effect. Therein is truth, understanding, and spirit. When the heart of the tool is found and understood, the use expands beyond intent. The path then is laid bare and must be walked. The path of the Arcane

First steps have been taken. The perceptions have been altered, this is the path and the way. Much like the spider, the web is the tool, made of the spirit of the spider. Once no longer necessary, is consumed and remade a part of the spider. This too is to be done for the Arcane. Unlike the spider and web, the Mage must incorporate the Arcane within the body. Limited is the Mage in methodology until the Arcane is bound to the Mage. Thus, the second step will be undertaken. The first level is recognized when the Mage undergoes the first ritual.

Each ritual bonds the Arcane further until the final rite is completed. The Mage is made whole. The Arcane flows through the Mage. Further tools to focus and transcend the Mage's self-limitations are used as necessary. Technology is no longer a tool, but a path to a greater awareness. Forever within the wonder, the dream, the potential of the human spirit, projected beyond the limitations of science to be the promise of the ancients.
