Isn't it a bit hypocritical to allow AI generated images but not text? Drawing / digital art is also a skill that can be learned.

The cat is out of the bag and the use of AI is now inevitable.

It would be better to just let it go and let the community and mods judge and handle it. People with obviously AI generated RP would be ignored the same way low effort RP is ignored.

Don't worry about it too much. There is the kind of roleplay post that is just generic soulless filler and then there is the kind of roleplay post that has personality, consecutively connected content and immerses into the environment. It's fairly easy to tell them apart.

A lot of players here using Ai, you can clearly see. But still any ai detect or can detect, and some detectors don't work as they should.

Example you change one word detectors detect that you are Ai lmao.

Am I still allowed to use the High def. Pictures or glyphs I made with Ai or to correct my sentence build up? Don't want to ruin my reputation or even lose my SRPs..

This is in principle a good idea, as long as it doesn't lead to witch hunts. Stamping out the really low quality AI slop is not something anyone sensible is ever going to object to.

Provided that's the only thing the staff polices under this new rule then I think we've taken a step in the right direction. Otherwise, and if it goes too far into technicalities, then I wouldn't trust the staff team to properly enforce the rules. You'll end up with way too many false positives. I feel like this might benefit from being an advisory rather than a rule in that case. You can still trash glaringly obvious AI posts, but you're not putting every single post through a verification process (more AI lmao) because that's just a ton of work.

As with anything added to the rules these days, my only concern is going to be enforcement. Especially after the fiasco of the fair pvp rule enforcement, at least in its early stages. I have more to say on that subject but this isn't the thread for it. Suffice to say that I hope this doesn't get used to justify careless scrutiny.

As AI will get better and harder to detect over time, how you will detect it?
Because as Godlslayer said, AI detector on text are not 100% reliable.
So how will you judge the uses of advanced AI?
I can smell VR will be filled and I'm curious how the staff will judge people writting fairly.
Right now it's easy to spot massive lore error and some gramatical and syntax pattern.
But that will become harder and harder, and I fear some honest lore mistake or really well written post will be taken as AI usage and report (some just out of spite) will be filled .

Will people need to save all their draft and concept to defend themselves like we already feel a need to reccord nearly each interraction ingame?

I feel it very simple. If your final result look like neuroslop and just make people dont bother to read your RP, it will be struck. If your final result is good and engaging, who will say anything?

I personally use different neural net stuff as a tools, chat GPT as fast summary/fluff creator. Dont plan to refuse from it, neither i ever planned to use it as actual comms/bio generation.

Tenshi, we're not doing this. Take your game of 20 questions elsewhere.

Similar to your previous request for staff to give you a list of every word or term that could be considered offensive, we're not going to humour these endless lists of questions on something that should be extremely self evident and obvious.

It would also be great if you could refrain from using your sockpuppet account instead.

As the post states, we will give benefit of the doubt where possible. We've no intent of going full Gestapo on people's writing.

Discovery has gone 15+ years without AI slop, we firmly believe people can write without it, even if they think they can't. Imperfections alone demonstrate human touch, and we don't want to punish people that just want to make it look or read better, only those that care so little for authentic work that they'll not even try to do it themself.

The difference for now, is quite easy to tell. Some in the thread seem to think we're using detectors for it but that's not really true. Simply reading is enough a lot of the time and that in itself is a telltale sign of AI generation. We're not going to read so deep as to try and find every use, or use tools that will give false positives. Stepping into paranoia territory isn't productive.

To address this one quick - those images aren't offensively bad or cross lines into the nonsensical so it's okay. They are fit for purpose.

Again as the post states, if AI is being used to generate the text itself then you may want to re-think. If it's just used to correct text you've written without replacing it, then it's fine. Weapon's post does a good job of clarifying things like this. Do make sure to always re-read the result however. Ensure it's not taking away from what you want to say, regardless of what it tells you.

Out of most of the AI rules I've seen in roleplay communities, this is probably the most reasonable one I've seen. I'll say I'm glad you're not banning AI use outright, and instead targeting people who use it to avoid roleplaying themselves, or making their characters unrealistic.

Good change.
