Hello!
Firstly, let me get some nervous energy off my ch...chest. I'm a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge fan of the Starfliers organisation and what you do! For the la...last seven years I've been keeping an eye on th...the group's exploits on the ne...neuralnet.
...[takes a deep breath]...
Alas, if only I were he...here to fangirl. I have two questions I'm hoping you would entertain discussing with me:
I'm in the market for some robust sensory equipment th...that can take the worst Sirius has to offer. Something that could be fired into a sun and survive long enough to get data back to me. Yo...you're kit is best in class, so curious to know if you've got something like that for sale.
Word has reached me of a place called 'Earhart'. I've little idea what it is and couldn't find a system by the name in m...my navigation computer. If anyone knows how to get there, I bet it's the Starfliers... how do I get there?
If, ur... looking forward to hearing back from you.
Kind Regards,
Dr. Thorn
You idiot, no one ends a video transmission with kind regards... now they're going to think your some dull-witte-----

Greetings Dr. Thorn,
This is Dr. Vanesca Catallia from the Starfliers. Let's see; to give you a "tldr" we use different kinds of equipments, tools and vessels depending on what we do.
Studying suns isn't something we usually do. But if we had to the probe we would send out is likely to be set up with Kishiro parts, and stream all their input until it melts from radiation.
*Vanesca puts on glasses and opens a notebook as if she now reads a story beyond belief*
"Earhart" is a different kind of deal. Is it fact or fiction? Some say it's a myth to begin with and a name just applied to said folktale. A system such as that would be kept a state secret, with it's access hidden in locked down sectors by the "great houses". Now let be entertain you just a little bit to make your effort of reaching out to us be valuable.
Let's say that system exists, it would be not within reach by normal navigation means. The routes would not be seen simply by jumping. Some rumours tell from a vicious nebula that claimed many be neighbour to a planet shattered into fragments as countless as the stars. Hidden between the remnants of those shards will be a gap to slip into what rumours tell you exist.
Hopefully I humoured you enough.
Is there anything else I can assist you with?

Hello again! Th...thank you for getting back to me so swiftly Vanesca. I am grateful you were willing to humour me, not only with a source for that sensory equipment, but a...al...also with the delights of a treasure hunt!
It is everything and m...more that I've asked for. You have my gratitudes, Vanesca.

Hello! It's m...me again!
I wanted to share that the clues you left me have led me on adventures I wo...would never have dreamed of. I found it, and it's beautiful. Thank you very very much.
On an entirely related note, honest, I wished to ask for your advice and expertise if you're willing to indulge me. There are many a make and model of kit for performing space-walks and the like available across Sirius. Do yourself, or St...s...Starfliers as a whole, have any particular kit you're most partial to using when exploring areas of space with more unusual conditions?

Hello again,
And you're most welcome. The hidden sights are often a feast to the eyes.
Personally I use a custom kit using a gallic frame with a lot of adjustments. Our group standard for general tasks is a Draugr using Kishiro scanner technology.
For more dangerous corners it's usually something of Zoner origin, based on the case either the Corvo or a Conference. However that might change soon.
I suggest if you want a higher quality answer then don't beat around the bush. *Vanesca chuckles*

Well, if we aren't getting the bushes involved...
I p...pl...plan to space-walk some of the hulks and wrecks that are found in the Earhart periphery. I've got a DS-2 V...Voyager and some standard suits for pootling about in the void, but something makes me suspect a spacesuit more sp...spe...ecialised for Earhart's environs would be prudent?

A DS-Voyager? Interesting pick. I used to fly an Ingram C2000 Sunburst, before I joined Starfliers.
With how the void zone "Earhart" behaves a standard issue suit would not be enough to keep the radiation away. We Starfliers usually do not visit wrecks and are more interested in natural objects. The strange center structure, the other half of the Dallas wreck and all the lost ships inside this place are mostly treated as environmental hazards by us and we avoid them.
However I will browse the inventory to see if I can find something "suitable" that you could use to walk there in limited time without getting harmed, our current clean up unearthed some... relics from when Starfliers was still very young. Back then visiting wrecks was still inside the standard process of charting.

Alright, I've found an old crate with outdated suit models from the past. Those were used in Kepler before the system was swallowed by the Dark Matter Storms.
I'll be honest with you, I don't think what I unearthed in the dust of old days can be used. However I do think Ames likely has some sort of newer versions of those that should be able to do the trick for your plan of wreck walking.
Otherwise I'd try to get the Junkers involved. They may have something that is a fit.
I could offer to see if we can make something that can help you but that will have to wait a bit as Starfliers' main ship, the Liner Sol, is now in re-deployment due to our Relocation.

If and when you have the time and resources, I'd be keen to make something bespoke with yourselves. The Starf....st...Starflier stamp of approval means a lot to me, and I shan't pretend the prospect of collaborating with yourselves is exciting!!

Glad to hear that. I need a suit of that kind myself anyway, so why not simply start working on a prototype that works.
And seeing that you're eager to assist makes it reasonable to assume that it could hold worth to people outside the little group of Starfliers as well.
Just to confirm:
• A suit fit for entering wrecks that is able to wield tools and has a decent amount of power and lifetime before it needs recharging.
• A suit that cannot be breached by a simple cut or akin while being out in the open.
• And also has at least some sort of signal that you can send messages short range to other wearers or a ship nearby.
