To: Bristol Constructions & Manufacturing, CC: Shipyard Department.
Subject: Archon Inquiry

Good mornin', afternoon or evenin' to ya! Oi hope this foinds ye well

Oi'm puttin' some feelers out, as an individual member o' the Assembly've Dublin.

Oi've been borrowin' one'a me mate's Archons'ta do some prospectin' in our home garden. So far, she's been workin' out good, sans fer'a scrap we got in'ta wit' one'a dem Crownie Agincourts. Had'ta tow her back from near Gran Can', after tha'.

Me mate's choice've arms on their Archon is.. A lil' lackin', but Oi know better than'ta go messin' aboot wit' someone else's things.

So, Oi'm in de market fer gettin' one'a me own.

Oi don' 'spose Bristol's willin'a sell and'r barter a member've de Assembly an Archon? Bran' new'r used; either works jus' foine fer me, long'as she be in decen' shape.

If yer willin'a do bis'ness wit' me, Oi'd be willin'ta lend'a hand wit' movin' supplies ya moight need fer upcomin' projects, assumin' Oi'cn get me hands on what'cha moight need. If there be some other koinda project'r job, if Oi cain't do it, Oi'cn check wit' me fellow Assemblyers'ta see if they'd be keen.

Oh - An' if ye need any gold un-taint'd by dem Old Comp'ny isotope stamps, Oi've been movin' the stuff all o'er de place, an' Oi'd be happy'ta part wit'a transport load'r two!

Are ya willin'ta help?

Hope'ta hear back soon, an' fair winds'ta ye!

Mr Trevan,

My name is Hector Booth, CO of the Bristol cruiser Endeavor. Considering both of our unique circumstances, I will be conducting this communication.

I haven't talked with the Dublin Assembly before - consider me ‘appreciative’ of the work it's taken to make your system really your own, from a personal point of view, even if that work is still going. Consider Bristol a neutral party in the whole matter. Bretonia has done me no personal favors, nor has any of her companies, but then neither has the Assembly. Any talks there would get Bristol barred from Bretonia, at best, and we've had operations needing that House before. I think you understand.

There's an Archon at Arcetri's docks that's been there since she was ‘found’ in the platinum fields. There was a good amount of radiation damage to the outer hull, as well as some damage to her computer systems and engines, but once that was all clear and repaired the vessel was left without any identifying marks. The crew wasn't able to tell us much, not that Samura would say anything to begin with, and returning the miner wouldn't go all that well. I'm sure you won't shed tears for those people.

We can have her be made ready, in exchange for 16.000.000 cr. I'd need a guarantee, though - if Bristol C&M ships are in Bretonia, not Dublin, then Assembly ships keep clear and don't hunt. We have no issue with you, not now, and want to keep that peace.

So, Trevan, what do you say?

Subject: Archon Follow-Up; Discreet Services?

G'afternoon ta ye, Mister Booth,

Even bein' neutral's more den'cn be said 'bout most firms what'r good wit' weldin' tings t'gether. We'll keep talks away from dem pryin' Crownie eyes den, since yer none too keen've gettin' shot at by 'em. Dey be darn bloomin' vicious followin' de beck'n call've dem Ol' Comp'ny Metal Heads!

Anyhoo.

Regardin' us avoidin' hasslin' Bristol Shippies, dat be a roight fair ting'ta ask, an' quite feasible fer us'ta follow.
Oi tink'a fair ask in return'd be, tha' Bristol'd be willin'a provide discreet services fer'de Assembly, such's ship fixin'.

Tha' said,
Wha's dis 'bout tryin'a charge such'a highwayman's fee fer an Archon ye happen'ta "foind" in some plat'num field?

Seems'ta me, loike "foindin" a S'mura Moiner Shippie - one yer nae in'a position'ta "return" - t'would be a roight Hot Hull Ticket ta keep hol'ta, wouldn'it?

Oi'd imagine tha' any number've folks moight come lookin' fer it, 'specially if ye somehow missed some tucked-hidden trackin' device'r, maybe even one'a de crew, tha' managed'ta send'a Neural Net message, 'fore ye took 'em in fer questions.

Moight be some hassle, dealin' wit' any number've..
Bounty Hunt'rs,
Hoga'shun Hitmen,
Inner'Space Insurance Reclaim'rs,
Or even 'Sari Kem'per'tie come lookin' fer it.

Y'mentioned no one in Bretonia's done much've any'ting in'a way've favors fer ye.
Seems'ta me, dat simply takin' tha' Hot Hull Moiner Shippie off yer hands on de cheap'd be a favor in takin' heat off'a Bristol, wouldn' it?
'Specially since we'd have'ta suddenly be worryin' a'boot all de folks who moight could come snoopin' fer it.

Now..
All'a dat bein' said,
Oi ain't daft, neither. Oi know ye've got'a bid'ness 'ta run, an' ye did mention ye've fixed wot needs fixin'.

But dat Six-Teen-Million price tag, dough.. Dat jus' ain't gonna cover'de fact dat she's got sev'ral challengin' an' danger-bringin' pain points, dat Oi'm gonna have'ta spend more toime an' funds makin' sure she's safe an' well armed.

Can ye see where Oi'm comin' from?

Oi'm tinkin' more loike, Six-an'-a-Half-Million fer dis Used, Hot Hulled Archon ye got.

Lemme know wot'cher tink, an' if dat's in de ballpark

Mr Trevan,

You’re fairly honest, far as I can see.

That’s right, it’s a steep enough price, and you’d be doing Bristol a favor by taking the ship off our hands. I’d say that there was no signal that came from the ship, though. A few talks with the locals have made sure of that. Besides, there’s not all that much they could say - it’s legitimate salvage by a legitimate company, and that’s really that. I’m tired of seeing that ship at Arcetri dock though, and I think it’ll do more good in Dublin.

But you’re a honest sort, like I said. Let’s say an even 10.000.000 cr, and we won’t vent the locked compartments on board that likely had the Samura Captain’s credit reserves. Enough to get the ship back into proper looks, as far as registries with the Assembly, that’s what’s there.

Oi'll let de lads, lassies an' others've de Provisional 'Ssembly know'ta leave ye Bris'ol folks be. Oi've 'eard dem Bris'ol Frigs ain't no slouches in leavin' troublemakers roight bloody banged up, an' plus we moight be reachin' out fer more stuff later.

Speakin'a, if ye need sometin' from our end, jus' lemme know, wedder it's now'r, sometoime down de way, an' Oi'cn bring it up wit' me other 'Ssembly folks.

Mr Trevan,

Flying up to Galileo won’t be necessary. A prize crew has already transferred the ship down into your neck of the woods, left her out in the void. Transfer the funds to B|-BCV-Endeavor and we’ll send along the coordinates for her, as well as the entry codes.

She’s otherwise powered down in a strange spot. I’ve kept my crew on Trafalgar until you get a hold of her, just to keep an eye on it.

Enjoy your mining, Dubliner.
