You want hard try flying a gunboat against a bomber of equal experience.

Besides the more armor you have the less room you have for loot so there is a trade off.

The gunship is getting fixed. Its a shame the turrets are being nerfed, all it needed was a hit box fix.

If small = less power then what in the heck are bombers fireing the Supernova for? Or a better question how is it that the bigger the tech the less functional it is.

I real life the challenge seems to be minitureization not gargantuization. However the inverse is true here.

Armor is fine. Just fix the hit boxes and all will be well. The armor already cost more than a battleship and is in my opinion worth more than a battle ship.

Being that battleships have limited play, acceptance, mobility, and ussually indicate weak RP.(cynicism) When I can afford to smack cap armor 8 on my gunboats I will. Why cause gunboats are the largest most playable ship.

Not all of us want the Robotech, gundam wing, top gun feel. Some of us want the deliberate and calculated play of cap ships. Where skill is not measured in reflexes(physically) but in timeing, location, load out, and intelligence of threats. (mental challenges) Since dodgeing isnt an option normally.

Not all of us are young with cat like reflexes or great conections so capital ships let you take a more mental role. The only down side is you cannot play every part of the game a twitchy fighter jock can. Leave the armor alone. Cap ships have been casturated enough.

about the gunship - those that forgot about the dimensions... :

sorry, only had the collection of all the replaces there - but bottom one is the new gunship. - the hammerhead hitbox fits it OK - it would cover roughly 120% of it ( means it will be bigger ) - but since bigger = less complaints, its better than making it smaller to fit.

i don t know if the new size justifies a cargo increase to the "normal" 300 that every other gunship / gunboat has - but it will surely make it easier to hit - except from a distance where almost all gunboats can easily dodge even the fast projectiles of battleship turrets. - but a bomber in pursuit will get a large target every once in a while when the gunship has to turn around ( unless the pilot manages to always only face the vertical of the ship towards the bomber - but a simple sidestrafe willl present a fairly large target )

from front this replacement is even smaller then old model. And size from the sides isn't balancing issue since it has so much speed and agility to always face it opponent. So how this is improvement? (apart of very nice model)

I can see the improvements target wise. It is very hard for a gunship to stay nose to nose with a bomber. So you would seldom have that thin advantage unless your jousting.

I only disagree with 2 of the 6 being unable to fire forward. After all we are not doing that to the rouge gunboat which is supposed to be a low end gunboat.

I could imagine a low end gunboat matching a BHG gunship, since there is a major resource difference between the two factions.

I think all the BHG Gun ship needed was a hit box fix. However the new model looks better and its something we can all claim as our own in Discovery.

I know its probally too late but if I could convince please dont nerf the turrets, the hit box and model fix are enough.

True I'll probally never fly it, as I have no idea what to do with my self as a BHG when not on a player made bounty.

However this is turning into a BHG ship thread. So, NO TOUCH ARMOR!!!!! That is all. :)

put it that way - everyone complained about the BHG gunship - no one EVER complained about the rogue gunship ( which incidently is not much bigger ) - but here is the deal...... the kusari gunboat has only 4 turrets that fire foreward, too. - so... 4 turrets is OK for a ship of that size.

leaves the question if some of the other gunboats don t possibly have too many turrets. - after all, the arms race made almost every gunboat have at least 6 turrets now.

i think the hackers, rogue, kusari, BHG gunship should all have only 4 forward firing turrets anyway - if they have more, its too much... .

but for the job this ship is meant to do - 4 turrets will be enough. - its not a gunboat that can fight fighters, bombers and capital ships alike like the corsair GB or the scorpion GB.... its a smaller vessel after all, only 3 times bigger than the barghest.

The Kusari gunboat only has 4 forward tuurets?!? Wow! That counting the forward gun or not? Does the forward gun make up in terms of damage the lack of the other two?

Doesn't count the forward gun. The Kusari GB has five turrets and a forward gun. One of the turrets is read-facing only. The rest are forward only.

Kusari and Rogue GBs are not in the "class of gunships"...not by size and not by agility...in the terms of FL gunship class does not exist. We made that up. Why?...to keep two of unbalanced ships and try to balance them to "lower" class...and that is wrong...

Hacker gunship is very weird ship. It is too big, not very FL and atm too slow...it is in no way a gunship except for its hull strength...it should become full GB...

To that "class" belongs new Zoner GB...It has the size of normal GB..
so why not making it real GB?...

As for old Rogue and now BHG model of current gunship. I flew that ship long ago as part of my character. At that time server had only half on todays visits, and there was not many people who used that ship. It was by far weakest GB according to stats.

However its agility and, even more, its very small hit box made that ship unbalanced. Many people who fought me at that time thought that i am very ood in a GB...thing is, no matter how good i am, wrong hit box did my job so much easier.

Did you know that Rogue GB was first model ever to be replaced by another one?...Size/unbalance of old model was the reason. New Rogue GB however is the size of the Liberty GB, slightly smaller then RH GB and about the size of Kusari one...only compared to the rest of imported ships it is smaller...(excluding overgrown bret GB...but brets never were good at miniaturization:P)...and foremost, it has quite good matching hit box...

As i see it...Hacker and Zoner GBs could easily be made to full GB, as they should be...and that leaves us with two BHG gunboats...one is clearly too much, and thus whole charade of "gunship" class...

It leaves me one question...why BHG of all factions (especially Houses) developed two GBs...when for all other houses only one does the job for what it was designed.

This is only my opinion, but that BHG gunship should become somewhat of "explorer" ship like old dragon GB...and BHG ship line would have nice and clear situation considering ship classes...

Isn't SHIP usually larger then a BOAT?
