Fleet Admiral,

I may have found the urgent replacement for Commodore John Khatri that you were looking for. Not a perfect one, but you said it was urgent and imperfect now is better than perfect in six months. In retirement since the demobilisation order of 830, but still on the first-line reservist list. Has never been a member of any political party, which I was told was an advantage for this position. You will find his file in the attachment.

Name and Last Name; Edric Mortimer
Title: Esquire
Rank: Captain
Date and Place of Birth: November 11 781, Industrial District 199, Leeds
Time of Service: 801 -- 806; 814 -- 827; 828 -- 830
Service History: Battle of Tau 31 in 816, Battle of Leeds in 820, Operation Royal Flush in 822, New London Blitz in 826, Battle of Leeds in 826
Skillset: Organisation, logistics, small arms training, medium capital ship command experience, squadron command experience
Notable Weak Points: Cybernetic left eye, right arm, right leg, artificial liver, immunocompromised, almost no sense of taste and smell; seriously prejudiced against Gauls; depressed, PTSD, functional alcoholic

Psychiatric Evaluation:
Subject is lucid, aware and rational. Occasional, but rare, bouts of post-traumatic stress disorder, usually induced by recollection of specific memories, not external stimuli. No hallucination reported. High-functioning alcoholic. Widower for 10 years privately still in mourning. Single adoptive father of 10 year old girl named Lily of Bretonian-Gallic descent. Biological father of two sons presumed dead, 18 year old daughter missing, presumed assymilated in Gallia. Cognitive dissonance about "all things Gallic": claims "infinite love" for adopted daughter and missing daughter, clear hatred for "all things Gallic". Attempted suicide in 827, no recorded previous or later attempts. Emotionally stable, low neuroticism. High but decaying logical-mathematical ability, decay normal for age. Introverted, no other symptoms of anti-social disorders.

Diagnosis: Depressio chronica, Status post traumatis, Alcocholismus altae functionis

Verdict: Ready for duty under 7.2.7. of 826 General Draft Order.

Dr Young,

Mortimer is a less than ideal choice, but I will take it under the circumstances.

Thank you for the evaluation doctor. I'd like to see 6 monthly evaluations as he resettles into active duty. I trust you can inform him of the good news?

On Behalf of her Majesty the Queen,

Lord Admiral Michelle O'Brian,
Admiral of the Fleet,
Lord Oakington of Cambridge,

First Sea Lord
