I squared this with the player involved in-game but for... posterity? Since I didn't have a forum account when it happened:

Reason: first time I've ever seen the lag icon but I'm glad I turned it on, otherwise I wouldn't have known the d/c was lag-related. Not having any other internet issues so I've no idea why it dropped me. I would not OOCly run from an aggressive encounter. If it was getting too much for me I'd message OOCly to tell the other party/ies so.
