just a thought.....

Igiss, i remember you mentioning your ISP had a few problems so the server wasn't functioning correctly.

been thinking about the current 'lag' situation and looking into what you said. and i'm beginning to think it is out of our hands.

i used to be in a gaming clan called -=BSFE=- and our server was hosted by the leader in Northern Ireland.. we had the same problem that we have here (lag, and failed connections), and by using MS DOS to trace the route taken to get data from my machine to Nth Ireland we found out that it was a damaged cable/ server somewhere along the line from his ISP (AOL)

i have not tried tracing the route for the discovery server, but it does seem familiar, so maybe check with your ISP again? as i'm not sure if its the same with other players, but i've been getting reduced connection speed to your server. (max about 10kb/s while downloading from the site) if the ISP doesn't know or has no explanation for the problems then it could be a damaged international cable somewhere in Russia? as you said you didn't have any lag yourself locally, but users outside of the country do.

just a few thoughts from past experiance and my IT Training.

Hope it helps

Connection to internet from this ISP was overloaded in the recent days. This might've caused the lag issue.

Requesting help once again. I've got a fresh backup of all player files. If anyone has got a fast PC & connection here, we might just move the server temporarily. Besides it will allow to test where's the problem with 4.77 that caused the crash, if it was mod-related. I will try to run the server on my own PC for a while, but I'll need to reinstall Windows before, and, moreover, when I tried to do this before server couldn't connect to global server from here.

I wish i could help, but annoyingly, my router does not allow direct connections to machines in our network and even if you set it to do so, for some reason it overrides our settings lol.... personally i blame Belkin or the american software writer that made the interface :@

There must be someone with an open network that can help.

come on, gather round people!! who has their machine constantly on and connected to the internet

I have been considering the idea of mounting a server on my machine.

But every time i compile a new version of a program im working on (im a programmer), i reboot the computer on a different version of windows (98/2000/XP) because i need to be sure that the program can still be run in these windows versions without problems.

So i reboot the system arround 10 times a week. :(
