BS can hit, a bomber, and can hit a fighter... but BS cannot hit 6 fighters at the same time...

Cruisers would be primary support to the BS against other BS's and GB's would be for taking on smaller hostiles such as bombers/VHF's...

If something like this was to happen it would probably mean some factions wouldn't like their ship restriction though.. unsure.gif

Also, if you could somehow make them not to require players to control them.

What's that got to do with anything? A guy suggested a SHIELD improvement for a BS, so they CAN'T be hurt by anything else then a bloody OTHER BS.

You don't fly a lot of small ships, do you?

When you think about BS's are on average 5-10 times the size of a freighter let alone a fighter. These ships should be in the "OMG!!!:shok: GET THE WHOLE FLEET HERE NOW!!" category imo.

Oh, they suggested a shield improvement, I misread and thought it was just armor. In that case, that's insane, carry on. *hands back Chopper's torch and pitchfork.*

And yes, I fly an unpleasantly high number of small ships. I enjoy it when I'm not dying because an oversight decided that the Swiss Army Knife Class of ships was going to be renamed the 'Bomber'.

give battleships uber hull, enough so that its very hard for 2 bombers to kill em. if you look at a cap ship combat on the BSG mod, they battleships have enough hull to withstand 5 fighters armed with nukes. im not saying give the cap ships summit that high, but something similar.

battleships also need new weapon classes. at the moment, we literally have 6 classes: normal turrets cerbs, mortars, infernos, razors, and flak.

due to the fact that in 4.85, the components of ships are guna get merged, i suggest upping flak by a degree, so it does the task its made to do (but not to the point it raped, like in 4.83). a new gun class, literally point defence: low range (say, 1 k? ), fast refire (say, 3.03, or 4.00), and low damage, and keep the original normal turrets as long range (2-3k), slow refire (1.00, or 2.00), and heavier damage.

i also wish to suggest implenting torpedoes for cap ships (maybe, even turn the mortar into a torp based ordnance? ). slow moving, heavy hitting, easily being shot down, but damaging equal to say.. a heavy mortar. make the torps vulnerable enough to be shot down by fire, but fast enough to give it a chance to land the hit, and do the damage.

oh and, seriously, go and check out a cap ship fight on the BSG mod. you'll see what i mean about the cap fights being realistic, and fun (tbh), there.

Played that mod but never got to see a Cap fight maybe I should have another look just to check it out.

I think there should be a bit more of a choice of guns with Cap ships. For Instance: say a 16.67 refire rate gun with much lower damage (similar to eco, wildfire etc.)

I wouldn't kill the range on them as that's (imo) one of the advantages to having a cap ship.

Well balance isn't "that" bad, really I can hold my own for 15 minutes in a gunboat against 5 or 6 angry rheinland fighter/bombers. There is a surten pain of going in to battle with a full fleet and see your caps being blown out long before fighters even touch their botts button...

Let's see what the new balancing will present us. (pray and do whatever you do if something worthwile must go well)

Battleships don't need fast firing, low damage and low range weaponry. Remember they can only target one thing at a time.

What about shotgun esque weapons? 4 of them on a battleship say. One for each side. Have them cover a wide arc of the ship but still leaving small gaps. You can have shots that do spread out like shotguns easily btw.
Battleship is fighting a carrier for example. The carrier stays out of the battleships main gun range but the battleship moves to catch up etc. However bombers are swooping in on it. Inbetween firing it's major weaponry the battleship switches to another weapon group and simply hits the 'Fire all weapons' button. This fires all the highlighted weapons on the list (The weapons group switching is needed for it) and effectively produces a small wall of hurt all around the battleship in close range.
The battleship wouldn't be invincible to bombers (Though they tended to be in WW2. Took huge numbers and lots of tries to take down serveral battleships) as they could still effectively swarm the battleship and pass through the wall of pain, plus the weak spots on the ship would be vital.
