How many are actually needed? None actually. How is RP helped by flying a battlestar? Oh, where's the cylons!

Things like major warships and such might warrant replacement, but this isn't supposed to be a damn crusade. If you don't have anything productive to say about the topic at hand then amscray.

On that note, I suppose if I had the actual model where that thing was taken and an exorbitantly large amount of time that I could, theoretically, cut all the texture panels out one by one and sort of sow them together into simpler plates for our low-poly model...maybe...so I'd say it could be done, but I'm probably not the guy to talk to, since I lack (A) Da Skillz and (B) The Time.

Please note, Akumabito, that Eppy is working hard to replace the imports which you dislike, whereas you are simply complaining.

He is replacing the more common ones, and ones which he has an interest in, first, as to be expected.

If you care so much about the issue, which is understandable, you could offer replacements yourself.

Yes, I could, I've done ships before, but I don't have any 3d programs or milkshape installed currently, and there is no time, plus I don't think that any ship I do would make it in for other reasons.

That's why I simply point out that the server can be pretty close to import free by simply removing some ships from sale.

Almost everyone agrees that imports should be removed, I disagree that every import needs a replacement prior to being pulled.

This is, after all, an RP server, and I don't see why people complain on one hand that imports hurt immersion then turn around and say "but not my import, leave it in till it gets a replacement or reskinned or a fin added, etc..."

Pulling these imports out from sale is a good and reasonable solution. You can still RP an IMG tagged character without flying a ship from battlestar galactica, right?

As far as eppy, I don't respond to him seriously because anytime he doesn't like the direction a debate is going he starts spamming the threads with insulting, window stretching images to get it buried. It's a childish reaction that I won't take part in.

Of course what do you expect from someone who thinks pvp whoring is the answer to the servers problems?

At this point, I think everything that can be said has been. Most of us agree that the imports need to go, and there are a bunch of modders working diligently on that. It takes time, and we can't expect everthing to happen at once. In addition, as much as I'd like to see all the imports go, some factions do use them as the ships they're supposed to be in RP. I know it breaks the immersion a bit, but with some patience, they'll be mostly gone over the next couple mods.

Now, both sides have made good points, and neither one seems willing to relent. At this point, can we just agree to disagree and put the nomex suits and fire extinguishers away?
