Bumped into him today, actually. First day and I run smack into Mon'Star at the Cambridge->New London gate, just my luck. My character was still shaking hours afterwards.

I hereby give props and a 'whut whut' to Keb & 'ol Mon'Star. He knows how to make me nervous when I see him. He's shot down my Marburg character a few times, & technically speaking, in a twisted sense Monnie & Burg are on friendly terms in a manner of speaking....

(& I admit I should make more of an effort to RP w/ him more often:))

I've had two incidents involving Mon'Star.

One, as ALS)Cerulean, where it was a simple "Mon'Star is in the system, all civilians evacuate" from the LSF.

The other, as my at-the-time Lane Hacker, Blackmoon (now Alicia.Nall), with one of the LR players involved as well. I picked up the Necrosis on the edge of my scan range and immediately turned in the other direction, most of the encounter was talking and me looking for the Rogue to see if he was ok.

Yeah, it's a simple character, and I wouldn't want more running around - one genocidal maniac when well-done can scare the hell out of you, but a dozen poorly-played ones would ruin the server.

Keep up the good work.

' Wrote:Well, even though Mon'Star seems to be based (intentionally or not) on a number of somewhat corny steriotypes and clice villans, he has taken those overused motifs and made them seem utterly badass.

Yes, there have been more origional characters. Yes, Mon'star's 'kill kill kill' mentality and the reasons behind it seem somewhat haphazard. But the way I see it, Disco's storyline needs at least ONE 'kill kill kill, none of the side crap' character. So yes, I think Mon'star is doing fine. Steriotypical villian or not.

He's like disco's Jason Vorhees, for better or worse.

Mon'Star wasn't intentionally based on any cliche's, in fact i thought i had come up with something unique. i thought to myself oneday, what would happen if you took someone's inhibitions away, took away their conscience, their inner voice of right and wrong? what if this person just so happens to find pleasure in killing, seeing the stuff that would make us all cringe and get sick at the mere mention of it...they would find hilarious.

now take a mind like that and put it into a cybernetically enhanced genetically altered body, and you get a perfect storm.

that was my goal, to create a supervillain. not just another everyday bad guy but something special. something that you would remember years later, long after we all quit playing this game. you'll be sitting on your rocking chair watching your grandchildren playing hover ball in the street. one of them suddenly burst into this crazy laugh and you'll smile. "good ole Mon'Star"

ok maybe not but it's possible :D

i'm not sure what clicke's you speak of or what stereotypes Mon'Star would fall into but it's not intentional. perhaps it's just residual memories in my subconscience from watching too many movies?

thanks for the feedback so far. keep it coming

I like Monnie. Classic stuff...

At some point I would like to RP an encounter between Monnie and my totally unbalenced, kills people because he likes their coat, merc, Rawshank. That might be a lot of fun. However until I happen to see ya around and about its not gunna happen. Shame about the timezone thing really because in all the months I have been here I have only ever seen you twice.

Neither time did I get close enough to be in range (I think wisely) but both times I had fun.

<phew> after 19 long posts i've finally finished the story "The Searing". the story was based off of the idea i had for the Mon'Star RP event that unfortunately never happened.

http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...=13425&st=0

i'm very happy with the story, but it did explode into much more of an epic than i had originally intended. i just kept coming up with ideas.

i'd love to hear what anyone who's read it thinks.

hehe, 55% of the surface was affected....basically meaning burned to a crisp. i put that in there to give an idea to the scale of the disaster, i could have made mention of the effect of all that oxygen rich air being gone suddenly or the effects of all that intense heat on everything or what would happen after all that smoke and ash from such a huge fire rose into the atmosphere.....but i didn't want to over scientificate things :D

the RP event would've been epic for sure, i toned down the battle at the end and changed it a bit so that the Necrosis wasn't involved. Despite people not wanting Mon'Star to be the cause of a war between Liberty and Rheinland i thought it was too good of a story arc to pass up.
