I agree Battleships would be unecessary as GMG only requires defence for transports and outer bases.
The main distribution station and administratorial office is located in Honshu, on the conveniently placed Aomori Station so they would already have house protection in the form of the local navy for their main base of operations.
I would like to add that the Stinger makes for a wonderful GMG ship. GMG technology designed to fly through gas clouds.
If anyone is interested in trying out some in-game RP as a GMG pilot I currently have a character called Gas_Miner_Patrol_5. Could start with picking off Outcasts on their way to Sigma-13.
What other duties might GMG patrols be interested in? Contraband of some sort? Expansion into neighboring systems? I know the GMG NPCs do raids on Omicron Beta.
I wouldn't want to start getting hostile with the OC factions right off the bat though. Setting up the operation would be the first priority IMO. But all in time.
EDIT: If you ever see Orin in the Sigmas, he frequently talks about the GMG in RP.
' Wrote:yes, but they beat the rheinland fleet back with nothing but fighters and bombers. It isnt really in the GMG's RP to use heavy capships, they're supposed to be fighter aces who use the nebula and gas clouds to their advantage in combat.
You're right I just read this....."GMG security forces are noted for their unorthodox security tactics, utilising a form of guerilla warfare that uses the limited visibility inside the Crow Nebula to their advantage. The guild is known for using large numbers of strong and agile strike craft to their advantage, while refusing to field capital class vessels altogether."
The Kusari Explorer maybe still good seeing as their really aren't any "large numbers"
Quote:Also, on a side note, the GMG have their own BS turrets. Yeah. wacko.gif
They have their own gunboat and cruiser turrets too, I think.
Sigma 13 wont be so bad once 4.85 rolls around and kills the diamond/niobium route. That will reduce the number of pirates, bounty hunters, and traders by a pretty large amount.
Also, it should be noted that the GMG have an 'under the table' alliance with the blood dragons. GMG train blood dragon pilots in nebula fighting tactics, and in return the blood dragons will occasionally help out GMG against enemy targets. The GMG is also hostile to Samura, but allied to Kishiro - so if you could get a Samura faction as a primary enemy it might help keep things active.
Samura constructs all of the kusari navy's heavy warships and most of their smaller fighters and bombers, as well as all the large transports/freighters used by Kusari. A Samura faction could easily start up a war with the GMG if more 'action' is needed.

Well they are hostile to begin with. Though you are right about not stirring the hornet's nest. But there will have to be conflict with OCs when they enter GMG space.
Quote:The first ships of the Kusari Explorer type were built in 490 A.S., the period when space exploration was considered very important for the House of Kusari. Bearing a power array and weapon systems similar to a Gunboat, the Explorers were reliable enough to spend long months and even years completely alone with a small crew onboard, mapping remote systems and seeking uncharted jump holes. These years, the period of active space exploration is over for Kusari, but not for the Gas Miners Guild who are constantly seeking new mineable areas in the Sirius nebulas and use many Explorer-type vessels to increase research efficiency. Several Explorers also stay on in service with the Kusari Naval Forces.
@Tenacity: Indeed, something else I forgot to add in. The GMG does train the Blood Dragons on occasion, and we could have a friendly relationship with our Chugoku neighbors. If you'll read Orin's first log entry, he mentions training Dragons in his early days as a Freelancer.
@Monk: Yeah, course. If Outcasts came in, we'd attack. I just wouldn't suggest launching strikes that quick. The GMG is interested in expanding, but not waging war on one of the strongest empires in Sirius, no doubt.
