The old GMG faction did quite well, with RP and pvp, and diplomacy between other factions.. The problem with this is that around once every two days, the OPG would fly into Sigma-13 with ~ 7 Gunboats, no exaggeration, and attack the GMG with no RP behind it whatsoever. Makes it worse that Corsairs inhabit the lower part of the system. The GMG gas miners are among Outcast territory in Sigma-13, but OPG GB-spammed the GMG constantly. Thats why they eventually had BSs and Cruisers when they had started with only VHFs and bombers..

I sincerely hope this does NOT happen again, and also would be glad to see a new GMG faction rise up.. I might even join it, at least until its off the ground. Heh, maybe I can even convince the old GMG faction leader to come back and help, or lead a new GMG faction for a second try.

One good Bomber pilot = 2 Nooby GBs.

Not that OPG are noobs, I am in them, but fact is, GMG are purely fighters/bombers, with 3 or 4 GBs at max, no cruisers or BS.

@Von: I don't know why you're flaming me. 98% of my posts useless? You being sarcastic? I apologise for double and triple posts, but I had things to put in.

Anyways, good to see lots of interest. I want to explain what the ideal cap setup would be in my opinion.

3 IMG Gunboats, piloted by three of the leading members. Also, these ones would have to be known for acceptable RP in game, and only use these weapons in necessary circumstances.

1 Albatross Cruiser. The whole Battlestar thing is garbage IMO. Not only is it an import, I just don't think the GMG would ever fly such a ship. The Cruiser however, makes sense to me. The GMG has grown, and although their tactics heavily rely on small superior forces, a flagship seems like an obvious growth in their ranks. I'm not the greatest cap fighter, and I RP almost exclusively in game and don't PvP often, so I would fly this. It would be heavily armed, being the GMG's only large defender, and piloted by Admiral Vahl.

I'll read up on that, Blodo. The old faction did seem very well put together, it is just apparant that they didn't manage their alliances and cap usage well. I would be rewriting everything anyways and not using old content.

Actually, I would disagree with the Albie, and say 3 KU Explorers, and a cap mk 8 IMG GB, or cap mk 8 KU Explorer

It seems a tad simpleminded to me that the GMG would be foolish enough to fly one of the weakest gunboats in the game for a flagship of a mini-house in its own right.

That wasn't meant to be rude, but not only is the IMG GB a lightly defended ship, the Explorer is a terrible combatant vessel. I know, I fly one.

I'd outfit a handful of "Expansionary and Research" capable Explorers for use. Lightly armed, due to their non-combatant purpose.

And I still think a single Albatross is a good idea. If you don't: please explain why.

My reasoning;

GMG tactics involve striking quick, at the enemies heart, then sneaking out; its how they beat back Rheinlnad. An albie is imply to big to do that, and would be a target, GBs, however, could simulate that with small numbers, as that is kind of similiar.

Also, GMG would never be assed with the large repairs that come with the albie, due to the terrain they operate in, also, IMG GB is one of the best if you know how to use GBs, due to its tiny shape from the front, and KU Explorer isn't even really a GB, just a heavily armoured exploration vehicle

Noted, but I do believe after hundreds of years, and the evolution of Sirius, a faction that prides itself in intimidation and protection of their borders would have a capable flagship for final defense.

This would be -one- above GB class capital ship, and wouldn't be heavily used or abused.

A GB as a flagship for such a powerful organization just seems very very out of character for the GMG. It's like the Mollies slapping a "New Dublin" sticker on a Rogue GB and calling it their flagship.

EDIT: Also, take a gander in S-13. We've got OC Destroyers in system left and right. IMG and Explorer GBs would be utterly slaughtered without bomber support.

We have one of the best bombers in the game, what do we have to worry?

If you want a flagship, I would never use it in combat, and basically RP out missions on it.

Also, the faction prides itself in its tactic, so a GB would be perfect for it, the GMG don't try to flaunt their wealth, imo

I'm not pushing for it for personal reasons. I've never even flown anything bigger than a GB, I just think it would make perfect sense for an organization that rules the area to have a flagship. And an IMG GB as a flagship seems very strange.

That said, I've already stated that it would be a last defense, probably only seen in moor with Naha and Ogashawa.

EDIT: Also, anyone that has interacted with me can attest that I type like a madman, and even in combat in fighters. I do not PvP by choice, and I RP almost exclusively.

Again, I've stated my reason, and I know you wouldn't abuse it, I'm just against anything bigger than a GB for us, but we could always use a cap mk 8 KU Explorer, since that is in RP, but superior than the others
